The new Emgrand-branded EX7 from Geely will debut at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of this month and these are the first pictures of the SUV rolling of the line.

Engines now we know: 1.8 litre four-cylinder with 102kw@6000rpm and 172Nm/4100rpm and a 2.0 litre four-cylinder with 106kw@6000rpm and 188Nm/4000-4200rpm.

Not too much difference between these two but a diesel is on its way as well, four-cylinder with 100kw@4000rpm and 286Nm@1800-2750rpm. 4×4 will be available at some time in the future. Price from around 160.000 rmb.

  1. I am a South African and stay in the Limpopo province near Phalaborwa. In the past few months our mine went into liquedation and a lot of vehicles were lost. Thus we are in the market for cars that can take rough Limpopo conditions. The cost however must be very reasonable. We run a food scheme for the community and it is imperitive to have a vehicle that is trustworhy. Now my question! Is it possible to get one of the EX7 but the diesel version in South Africa. Kind regards. Boet.

  2. Boet from Limpopo. We also would really like toe test and document 4×4 vehicles for South Africa and would like stay loyal to one new brand to South Africa. Most other brands are being video documented. In wonder, is it possible with Geely. Will Geely sponsor something like that.

  3. I have a vision of testing the new Geely EX7 in strenuous terrain and video documenting it for TV and the news media. In this vein I am wondering whether Geely would think of supporting such an enterprise as the terrain I vision is predominantly the South African wild lands where vehicles have to be reliable and built to last. I en vision a LDC like for instance the Chana Star with great entry and depart angles in double cab 4×4 diesel. Small but capable. The EX7 in high rider and diesel as support vehicles. Through the rugged desert and the Lebombo mountains. 4 double cab LDV’s and 2 support EX7’s. This could break the barrier to greater sales and solve all the reliability groans people have concerning Geely. First I will need a CEO with vision to support such an initiative. These cars can be widely tested all over the world an as soon as the name and perception changes to value for money and reliability, the market will start supporting Geely worldwide as a real contender. I know what is needed. But is it possible to convince someone with real power to support me?
