Published on September 20, 2010 by Tycho de Feijter

FAW-Vizi V2

The Vizi V2 was FAW’s offering for those wo want a cheap yet reliable set of wheels. It sold fine in rural areas but not so good in the rich cities. FAW wants to change all that with the new Vizi V2. Car on pic is the standard car, but! FAW developed a personalization-programme, like for the Mini and 500. And FAW brought two factory-made-specials to the show: a Cross and a Sport. The Vizi, so FAW decided, is cool.

Published on September 20, 2010 by Tycho de Feijter

Guangzhou-Toyota Yaris China

Toyota makes the Yaris in China under a joint venture with Guangzhou Auto. The old one didn’t sell well so Toyota brought in a new car. The Yaris got a new front, some small changes at the back and a new dashboard. Engine-wise no changes: 1.3 with 86hp and a 1.6 with 118.

Toyota did however surprise with the 1.6 GS, pictured, a sporty Yaris, yeah, bring it to me now. The 1.6 GS got a full bodykit and a huge spoiler at the back for downforce. Unfortunately the GS has the same power as the normal 1.6E so it will be slower due to the extra weight of plastic.

2011 Ford Edge to be imported into China

Ford will start importing the Edge suv into China in the fourth quarter. Sure they might sell some but since it will be expensive not that much. Spotted in China: Shuanghuan Noble with a Hook

Published on September 17, 2010 by Tycho de Feijter

Shianghuan Noble

Seen in a street near mine, Shuanghuan’s smart-clone Noble with a hook, but what to pull with max 33.5kw? Maybe another Noble, or a Smart. It wasn’t a funny-fake-thing either, I kicked it and it didn’t fell off, likely attached to the chassis. Maybe the owner has a small boat, or children.

Changfeng CP2 sedan 1

The Changfeng CP21 sedan is rolling of the line, but yet without a name. CP21 is the codename, the concept was called 欧酷曼, ‘Oukuman’, and Acumen as its English name. Last week we heard the car would be called 卓越, ‘Zuoyue’, meaning ‘excellent’.

Changfeng however has now denied Zuoyue is the name of the game, even worse, Changfeng said further no decision on the name has been made. The plan was to list the car in November, they better hurry up. Maybe new parent Guangzhou Auto wants to have a say as well…  Engines: 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0, price to start around 100.000 yuan.
