New Mitsubishi Lancer EX to launch at the Shanghai Auto Show

Mitsubishi Lancer EX China

The Mitsubishi Lancer is made in China by the SouEast-Mitsubishi joint venture. The facelifted Lancer EX will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next month. Engines: 1.8 and 2.0 mated to a six-speed automatic with paddleshifters or a CVT. The new Lancer EX will be listed later this year.

Chinese Driver angry with Range Rover, hires Donkeys

A Range Rover driver in Shenyang in Liaoning Province was not happy with his vehicle anymore. He bought the Range last year for 2 million yuan or 304.604 USD. In one year the car broke down six times and the engine had to be replaced. When the car then broke down for the 7th time the driver had enough of it. He hired two donkeys to pull his Range Rover back to the dealer and asked for a total refund. The dealer did not yet agree…

BAIC launches new Weiwang minicar brand

Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation, BIAC, launched a new baby. The brand is called Weiwang and will focus on minicars and minivans. First up is the Weiwang 306, a typical Chinese minivan or mianbaoche used everywhere in China to transport everything from human beings to lettuce to beer.

Spy Shots: Volkswagen Passat B7L in China

The B7L Volkswagen Passat for China will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show nexth month. The Passat is called Magotan in China and made by the FAW-VW joint venture. The Magotan B7L is stretched by 14 centimeters in the middle for chaffeured driving which many Chinese buyers prefer. Engines are the same as in Europe except for the top spec R36 that is imported from Germany.

Spy Shot: Chery Riich G2

One spy shot from a new entry level hatchback, the Chery Riich G2. Wheelbase will be around 2500mm, engines likely 1.3 and 1.5. The Riich G2 is expected to hit the Chinese market in 2012 for around 75.000 yuan.
