Chery E5 to be listed in China in July

The Chery E5 will be listed on the Chinese auto market in July. Price will start around 70.000 yuan and end around 100.000 yuan. The Chery E5 stands on the same platform as the Chery A5 and Chery Cowin 3.
$14.000 Lamborghini Aventador confiscated by Police in China

In May I posted a story about a man in Kunming who made himself a 14.000 dollar copy of a Lamborghini Aventador. The car was finally finished earlier this week and the happy owner took it for a ride. It didn’t last long, the police stopped him and confiscated the Lamborghini. The car was licensed as a Nissan Cefiro and according to the cops it didn’t look like a Cefiro anymore.
China’s car maker BYD gets approval for IPO

Beijing Hyundai to recall nearly 10,000 cars

Beijing Hyundai Motor started to recall 9,280 MoInca [last gen Sonata] vehicles over defective engines on Wednesday, China’s quality watchdog said.
MoInca-model vehicles produced between August 1 and October 31 last year will be recalled, according to a statement posted on the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China’s website.
Nearly 100,000 Mazda’s to be recalled in China

Japanese automaker Mazda Motor and its Chinese joint venture Chang’an Ford Mazda will recall 94,874 Mazda3 vehicles starting Thursday over defective windshield wipers, China’s consumer quality watchdog said on Wednesday.
China to exempts green vehicles from taxation

The State Council, or China’s cabinet, on Wednesday began soliciting public opinions on a draft regulation for the implementation of the Vehicle and Vessel Tax Law, which will exempt electric cars, fuel-cell vehicles and hybrid vehicles from taxation.
The draft regulation was created in line with the Vehicle and Vessel Tax Law, which stipulates that “tax reductions and exemptions should be granted for vehicles and vessels that save energy or use new energy,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Legal Affairs Office of the State Council. Taxes on other hybrid vehicles will be halved, the regulation said.
Mercedes-Benz C-class Wagon listed & priced in China

The Mercedes-Benz C-class Wagon has been officially listed on the Chinese auto market. Price starts at 425.000 yuan and ends at 485.000 yuan. Very expensive indeed because the Wagon is imported unlike the C-sedan that is made locally by the Beijing-Benz joint venture. Only engine available for the wagon is the C200 1.8 turbo with 184hp. Chevrolet Captiva listed and priced in China

The Chevrolet Captiva had been officially listed on the Chinese market. Price starts at 246.800 yuan and ends at 263.800 yuan. The Captiva is imported from South Korean and made in GM’s ex-Daewoo factories.
Spy Shots: new Haima sedan for China

Haima is working on a new medium sized sedan. It has about the size of the Toyota Vios and will compete in one of China’s hottest market segments. The new sedan is based on the same platform as the Haima 3 which is based on the platform of the last gen Mazda 3.
Geely GLEagle Ziyoujian listed and priced in China

A new car for Geely’s GLEagle (aka Global Eagle, aka Global Hawk) brand. The GLEagle Ziyoujian is basically a Geely Zhiyoujian with some extra goodies. It is very cheap, price starts at 39.800 yuan and ends at 46.800 yuan.
