Spy Shots: FAW Besturn B90 testing in China

The FAW Besturn B90 is based on a Mazda 6 platform from the FAW-Mazda joint venture, engines will come from Mazda as well. The exterior is based on the Besturn B9 Concept that debuted on the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The B90 will be the biggest car under the Besturn brand name. Listing is expected for the second half of 2012.
Facelifted JAC Binyue listed & priced in China

JAC launched the facelifted Binyue sedan back in February, it has now been officially listed on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 95.900 yuan and ends at 139.800 yuan.

While neither side in the 20-year-old joint venture between FAW Group and Volkswagen AG will comment publicly, industry watchers say a change in its shareholding is taking shape.

Geely GLEagle GX7 pops up at a Dealer in China

The Geely GLEagle will be officially listed in China later this month. One dealer however forgot to keep things secret and parked one brand new GLEagle (aka Global Eagle, aka Global Hawk) GX7 right in front of his shop. The GX7 debuted at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show and is aimed straight at the very competitive Chinese entry-level SUV market. Current best seller is the Chery Tiggo and it has been at the top spot for a while. The GX7 has to change all that.
GM to sell Chinese Wuling vans as Chevrolets in India

General Motors Co (GM) will sell Chinese-designed minivans under its Chevrolet brand in India starting next year as the automaker expands in Asia’s second-fastest growing major economy.
GM, the world’s largest automaker, will adapt two small commercial vehicle models currently being sold in China for the Indian market and sell them through Chevrolet dealerships, said Matthew Tsien, executive vice-president at GM’s China unit, in an interview on Wednesday in Chengdu in southwestern China’s Sichuan province.
Chery Automobile to open plant in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya – Chery Automobile Co Ltd is to become the second Chinese vehicle maker to build an assembly plant in Kenya. The move will see Chery Automobile join the truck manufacturer Beiqi Foton Motors Co Ltd as the companies attempt to tap East African demand and will further strengthen Chinese links with the continent.
“They (Chery) are discussing with the (Chinese) government so that they can get some $50 million to invest in Kenya through an assembly plant,” said Justus Nguu, the director of Stantech Motors Ltd, Chery Automobile’s franchise holder in Kenya.

The very good looking SouEast V3 Sport (or V3 ‘Style’) will be listed on the Chinese car market on August 20. The V3 Sport is based on the SouEast V3 which received a facelift in May.

Spy Shots: MG5 testing in China

The new MG5 debuted as MG Concept 5 at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The production version will debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show in April next year, the MG5 will be listed in June 2012.
