New spy shots from the Beijing Auto C70G, based on the old Saab 9-5. New pics show a fine orange example which is much better than all the grey stuff we saw before. The Beijing Auto C70G will debut at the Beijing Auto Show next month and it will be listed on the Chinese car market near the end of this year. Full production will start in September.

The Great Wall Motor Company will become the first Chinese car brand to start volume sales in the UK market when the Steed double-cab pick-up truck goes on sale in April, priced from just £13,998. Pictured above, the Great Wall Steed gets its debut at the 2012 Commercial Vehicle Show (Birmingham NEC, 24-26 April), and is playing the value card hard.

GM working with CATARC to charge Volt sales in China

General Motors China announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with an important automotive technology organization recognized by the Chinese government. The China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) will manage GM’s fleet of demonstration Volts and will assist GM China in meeting certain objectives.

Dongfeng Motor profit down 4.6%

Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor Group reported Tuesday its 2011 net profit fell 4.6 percent, due to lower prices and an overall slowdown in the world’s biggest automobile market. Net profit was at 10.48 billion yuan ($1.66 billion), down from 10.98 billion yuan from 2010, the firm said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange where it is listed.

BYD says Q1 profit might fall with 95%

BYD, he Chinese carmaker partly owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., fell to a two-month low in Hong Kong trading on Tuesday after the company forecast first-quarter profit may slump as much as 95 percent.

BYD fell by as much as 11 percent, the biggest intraday decline since Sept. 26, before closing 4.8 percent lower at HK$19.94 yuan in Hong Kong. The company’s Shenzhen-traded shares gained 1.8 percent, reversing a 3.9 percent decline.

Landwind, a brand-name of Jiangling Motor Corporation (JMC) makes cheap ‘n simple SUV’s and pick-up trucks that are very popular in the countryside. The big money however is in the cities and that’s where Landwind wants to go. This is the first spy shot of the E31 (code name), a new city-funky SUV with a 1.5 turbo engine that will debut in 2013. Most interesting is the gearbox which will be a 8-speed automatic. Price is expected to start around 120.000 yuan. Via: 163.com.

The BMW 6-series Gran Coupe debuted in Geneva earlier this month, it will have its China-debut at the Beijing Auto Show next month. One Gran Coupe was seen testing on Chinese roads so it will likely be listed on the China car market soon.

The Haima Aishang has been listed & priced on the China car market. Price starts at 35.800 yuan and ends at 45.800 yuan. Cheap as chips as expected, the Aishang will compete with cars such as the Chery QQ Sport, the Chang’an BenBen Mini, the BYD F0 and the Geely Panda.

Chinese media report that the Roewe R95 is “officially” renamed to Roewe 950. That would be a late change indeed because on earlier spy shots from the finished car we could easily see ‘R95′-badges on the back. 950 would make sense however since the rest of Roewe’s line-up consists of the 350, 550 and the soon-to-be-killed 750. The Roewe R95/950 will be listed on the Chinese car market on April 11.

Yez still in Shanghai, I’ll be here until early tomorrow when the Big Bird takes me back to Beijing. I’d better go to bed but I can’t, I just Need to write about cars. Here we have a shop selling all kinda badges that buyer can put on any car he or she has. Me see: Benz, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford, Suzuki, Toyota and Chevrolet. The first one who sees which one I forgot gets this pic in hi-res, please leave your answer in the comments.
