Published on April 30, 2012 by Tycho de Feijter

Look what I found on an abandoned playground in Beijing’s faraway Fangshan District! A secret Audi truck prototype nothing less. Closer inspection learned it was developed for children so they could learn to drive. Audi understands; when you get ‘m young they might buy an A6L when they are older and working for the government.

A very Orange Nissan GT-R from China

Published on April 30, 2012 by Tycho de Feijter

Orange Nissan GT-R

Here we have a very orange Nissan GT-R, seen in my own street in Beijing on a rainy day. The rain indeed couldn’t stop the GT-R from shining and hurting the unsuspecting eye. Especially dogs seemed to get scared of this machine, I saw one running away crying on seeing all this orange. Well, that might have been a coincidence, but sure is this Nissan won’t easily be missed, by anyone or anything.

Published on April 30, 2012 by W.E. Ning

Lorinser S70

What a machine! This is the China-only Lorinser S70 super sedan, based on the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG and tuned up to 810hp and 1300nm. Top speed is 330km/h, 0-100 is gone in 3.9 seconds. Booth-persons told me this S70 was a ‘China-only one-off’, painted in a special combination of black and gold for a very wealthy Chinese buyer, prices at 4.5 million yuan, or 716.000 USD.

Nissan Esflow

The Nissan Esflow EV concept debuted at last year’s Geneva Auto Show, in silver. Nissan decided for a white paint-job for the 2012 Beijing Auto Show which does the car a lotta good. Beijing Auto Works 007 pickup truck at the Beijing Auto Show

Published on April 30, 2012 by Tycho de Feijter

Beijing Auto Works 007

It was very nice to see this Beijing Auto Works 007 pickup truck at the Beijing Auto Show. The 007 would normally only appear at shows for commercial vehicles in the countryside. The Beijing Auto Works (BAW) 007 pickup is based on the BAW 007 SUV that was launched on the Chinese car market last year. Power comes from a 2.5 liter turbo-diesel with 100kw and 250nm.

The Ssangyong Chairman CW700L at the Beijing Auto Show

Published on April 30, 2012 by Joey Wang

Ssangyong Chairman CW700L

The mighty Ssangyong Chairman CW700L was listed on the China car market in February. An interesting move because up until then the large Ssangyong barge was rarely seen outside its home-country South Korea. The new Indian owners from Mahindra clearly want to push the Chairman further from shore. And is there any better place to start than in Chairman-obsessed China?

China’s state media Says: girls at Beijing Auto Show too Sexy

Published on April 30, 2012 by Tycho de Feijter

Lotus girl Beijing Auto Show

China’s state controlled media have been criticizing the organization of the 2012 Beijing Auto Show for having too many sexy girls without too many clothes on. They even go so far as saying those practices have a “negative social impact.” Is this the end of the party? Yez, it likely is.

When articles like this start to appear in state media it usually means something is about to change. The central government can simply order organizers to make sure the babes wear something more decent. If they don’t, licenses will be revoked and large fines handed out.

People’s Daily, commonly known as ‘the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party’ also wrote a very critical article on the girls, titled “Sexy models at auto show spark debate on morality”. To show what they were talking about they published some fine examples with the story.

Next big auto show is in Guangzhou in December, we’ll keep an eye on developments… From Xinhua:

Beijing authorities have issued a “serious reprimand” for an ongoing car exhibition that has stirred controversy for its scantily-clad models.

The Beijing’s Capital Ethics Development Office said on its website that the revealing clothing of some models at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition has had a “negative social impact.”

Geely GLEagle GX5

And here we have yet another great concept car from Geely at the Beijing Auto Show. Eearlier on we saw the mad Geely SC7-RS, the madder Geely Englon SX6, the normal GEeagle McCar and the grilled Geely Emgrand EX6. This fine white Jeep-like SUV is the Geely GLEagle GX5 and it is interesting because it is new and not new, at the same time.
