Volvo is working on a stretched S60 that will debut at the Chinese market sometime next year. The S60L will compete with cars such as the Audi A4L and the BMW 3Li. The Volvo S80L, a China-only stretched S80, is made locally at the Chang’an-Volvo joint venture.

The S60 will be made in China in the new Geely-Volvo factory in the future, but production won’t start before 2014. The Audi A4L and BMW 3Li are both stretched by 11 centimeters, so the Volvo has to do at least that or more. Price of the current imported S60 starts at  282.800 yuan and ends at 529.800 yuan. Engines: 1.6 turbo, 2.0 turbo and 3.0 T6.

@jhns. S80 competes with Audi A6 and BMW 5. S60 with A4 and 3. S40 has always been a special one, based on the Ford Focus and competing with nothing really. 🙂
