The Dongfeng-Fengshen S30 EV will hit the Chinese auto market late next year. The Fengshen S30 EV debuted as a concept on the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. It is based on the Fenshen S30 sedan. The Fengshen S30 EV will be powered by a 120hp electric motor made by the Shanghai Electric Corporation.
The concept car.
Top speed is 130km/h, range is 150km. Weight is a hefty 1300kg. There is no information yet about price which as usual will depend a lot on subsidies. The patrol-powered S30 starts around 70.000 yuan so the EV shouldn’t be much more expensive than 100.000 yuan. Whether anybody will actually buy one is however another question entirely…

Dongfeng need to invest a lot more in Fengshen products, they have been lazily collecting profits from their JVs and not building for the future.
Look at what Haima and Changan are achieving, it is making Fengshen look very unimpressive at present.
