The policeman explained that parking on the middle of the road was not allowed. The woman, a 22-year old Ms. Xiu, said she thought it was all right because the lines on the middle of the road looked the same as the lines on the sides of the road, where many cars were parked. The policeman then explained the difference between white and yellow lines.

Ms. Xu, who according to the reporter was pretty and over 170 cm tall, explained the car belonged to her mother who barely used it. She sometimes took it out because she thought leaving it in the garage all the time was such a waste. She didn’t want any trouble. The policeman let her go with a warning. 1. I think the policeman knew very well only communist party member or his/her relatives, mistresses etc., can afford to buy such car in China so he decided to not provoke her. It could have bad consequences for him. The same pays for Russia and many other post-communist countries, when you are in certain postition, law doesn’t exist for you.

  2. All the tea, liquor and tobacco shops that have no customers all day but have Porsches and Ferraris around them at night. Same thing eh.

  3. Note the red SUV parked at left, facing in the wrong direction. The rule of law, as understood by the Westerner, has yet to take root in the Middle Kingdom.
When in China do as the Chinese do….,is perhaps the best approach.
