Spy shots showing the facelifted Geely Englon SC5-RV cross hatchback, it will be launched on the China car market later this year. The facelift includes new bumpers, new head lights, and a new grille. The overall design is much better, a bit more boring maybe, but definitely better. Compare:

The current Geely Englon SC5-RV, it was not well-liked in China and sales have always been slow. Price starts at 52.300 yuan and ends at 56.300 yuan. Lone engine is a 1.5 with 94hp. The engine will continue in the facelifted SC5-RV and price will be about the same.

  1. Interesting fact:
I have sales and production statistics for China’s light passenger vehicles (cars, SUVs, MPVs, microvans) for the whole of 2012 and till July 2013, and the SC5 (RV or otherwise) is nowhere mentioned, so probably there was no production since 2011 (at least). Production stats are from the National Stats Office, and even perpetual slow-sellers selling less than 10 per month are mentioned, such as Tianqi Qibing, Foton Saga, Haval Pi, even (surprise) the Isuzu UC Rodeo by Qingling which most have forgotten about (this one is produced about 50-125 a month).

Off-topic: Did you know that 128 Mazda CX-5 and 390 new Ford Mondeo were produced in June, or 20 Hongqi V501 (L5) in Jan-Mar 2013?

  2. @ D Mitra. Thanks! Very interesting.

    SC5-RV: no surprise.

Isuzu Rodeo: I almost forgot that one too 🙂

Mazda CX-5 and Ford Mondeo: yes. small-batch production started in June, should be numbers for July as well.

Hongqi L5: yes. they already made some units for official state-duties, such as transporting foreign head-of-states. but many thanks for the V501 designation!
