The latest spy shots of the new Changan Yuexiang sedan, which will be called Changan Yuexiang X7 when it hits the China car market in October. The Yuexiang X7 stands on an all-new platform and will also spawn a hatchback and a crossover. The X7 comes with impressive styling, especially around the grille which is shaped like a standing wave, secured by fat chromed pillars.
The current Changan Yuexiang. Price starts at 53.900 yuan and ends at 69.900 yuan, making the Yuexiang one of the cheapest sedans on the Chinese auto market. Lone engine is a 1.5 with 114hp mated to a 5-speed manual.
Interior looking good as well, not too sporty and with a trendy fixed-screen-that-looks-like-a-pop-up-screen above the center console.
The Yuexiang X7 will be available with two engines: an upgraded version of the 1.5 with about 120hp, and a new 1.5 turbo with 170hp and 230nm. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.
What a grille…
The Yuexiang X7 will move slightly upmarket with price expected to start around 60.000 yuan and end around 90.000 yuan. This will leave space for a cheaper vehicle below the X7. It is also possible, like so many Chinese automakers do, that Changan will keep selling the old Yuexiang next to the new one.
