Spy Shots: JAC Refine S3 is almost Ready for the Chinese auto market

Spy Shots showing the JAC Refine S3 in the factory in China, indicating it is almost ready for the Chinese auto market. Sadly, it doesn’t have the interesting two-tone color scheme as the show car that debuted in April on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, but it does have the crazy grille. The JAC Refine S3 will be launched in July, but the exact date is yet unknown.

Price will start around 70.000 yuan and end around 90.000 yuan. The Heyue S30 is based on the same platform as the JAC Heyue A30 sedan. It is part of a heavy JAC SUV attack that will also include the JAC S2 SUV and the JAC Heyue S1 SUV.

Power comes from a 1.5 liter petrol engine with an output of 102 hp, mated to a 5-speed manual or a DCT. Size: 4325/1765/1660, wheelbase is 2560 and curb weight is 1220kg.

Wide C-pillar and a small rear window. Roof rack for the outdoor feeling. Black plastic mixing with chrome plastic. Chrome door handles looking good on red body. Tiny wheels again. Overall, a rather daring shape, especially that…

… grille!

The grille is quite different from the one we saw on the Heyue S30 crossover shown in 2013. That had an open mouthed fish appearance. This one I’m afraid is little improved.

The grille looks like the newer Hyundai grilles, like the one on the 2015 Sonata. The body all the way back looks like the current Hyundai Tucson (iX35).
