The Zotye E200 EV has been unveiled on the Shanghai Auto Show in China. The Zotye E200 is a new electric vehicle for the Chinese car market. There is also a four-door version, which we spied the night before the show, but it strangely didn’t show up on the show at daytime.

The Zotye E200 EV is powered by an electric motor with an output of 82hp and 170nm, good for an 150 km/h top speed and a range of 220 kilometer. The E200 EV will be launched on the Chinese car market in the second half of the year. Price will start somewhere around 70.000 yuan, including subsidies.

The doors were closed but through the window we can see a reasonable hip interior with orange-gray seats, an orange dash-top, a clean dash with a large screen in the middle, and a small instrument binnacle.

The Zotye E200 is a ‘real’ electric car, its 80 kilometer per hour top speed allows it on the highway, and buyers can apply for all central and local green-car subsidies.

  1. 70.000 rmb are too much for this model..they should lower the price around 50.000 rmb if they want to compete with Chery QQe that is a 4 door 4 seats EV with 200 km range..For this price they should offer at least a 250/280 km range, but looks that Zotye is not the top in the matter of battery technology…

  2. “..what to make of that?”
In China, don’t take language and grammar too seriously……, it’s a Daoist thing.

And yes, Marco Zotye has battery know how. Wasn’t it Zotye New Energy Co. that was experimenting with swappable traction batteries? Also, for that 70K rmb price, isn’t the wheelbase even shorter than the E20?

  3. That swappable battery box was a mechanical engineering , while the battery technology was still relying in obsolete Lifepo4 cells.. Nowadays are on sales for selected costumers, cells with a triple energy density then LiFepo4 , that could allow to triple the range without change the weight and the volume of the battery box.
