Spy Shots showing the upcoming Honda Greiz, a new compact sedan that will be launched on the Chinese car market in September. The Honda Greiz will be manufactured in China by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture. Price will range from 80.000 to 100.000 yuan.

The Honda Greiz is basically a slightly more sporty variant of the Honda City, with a different grille, different bumpers, and different taillights. The Honda City is made in China by Guangzhou-Honda, Honda’s other Chinese joint venture.

China thus will have the same car twice. This kind of madness is perfectly normal down here where most foreign manufactures have various joint ventures with various Chinese car companies, and each always wants what the other one has, especially when it sells well.

In the same fashion, Honda also makes two very similar compact SUV’s: the Honda XR-V and the Honda Vezel.

Price of the City starts at 86.800 yuan and ends at 99.800 yuan. Engines: 1.5 with 118hp and a 1.8 with 140hp, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

The Greiz comes with a much wilder rear end including sharp edged taillights, a spoiler, and a sporty low bumper. Sadly, there won’t be anything wild under the bonnet as the Greiz will get exactly the same engines as the City.
