Skoda Rapid police car from China

A Skoda Rapid police car, seen on the Cipate police equipment exhibition in Beijing. Chinese police doesn’t use the Rapid yet, they don’t use any Skoda vehicles, but Volkswagen apparently hopes that will change. The Skoda Rapid is a very new car, it was only launched on the Chinese car market last month, and this was the first time I met one in the flesh.
Volkswagen CrossBlue and CrossBlue Coupe will be made in China

Chinese media report today that the Volkswagen CrossBlue and CrossBlue Coupe will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. Production will start in 2015 in a new factory in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province with a capacity of 300.000 cars a year.
Production of the Zhongxing Urban Ark has started in China

More good news about Zhongxing (ZX Auto). Production of the Urban Ark has begun, it will be launched on the Chinese car market in June. The Urban Ark debuted as two-concepts on the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, price will start around 60.000 yuan.
Zhongxing calls the Urban Ark, which is by far the best English name for a Chinese car we have heard so far, an ‘AUV’, which stands for ‘Activity Utility Vehicle’.
Volkswagen Gran Lavida will hit the Chinese car market on June 29

The Volkswagen Gran Lavida will hit the Chinese car market on June 29, price will range from 107.800 yuan to 166.900 yuan. The Gran Lavida is a new China-only sportback/wagon/hatchback/thing based on the China-only Volkswagen Lavida sedan. The Gran Lavida debuted on the Shanghai Auto Show last month.

A Ford Raptor police car, seen on the Cipate police equipment exhibition in Beijing. The giant law enforcement vehicle is based on the speedy Reptor pickup truck, the conversion to police car is done by a Chinese company called ‘Haiqiao Industry’.
Kia Cerato is Pink in China

A very Pink Kia Cerato seen close to the Second Ring Road in Beijing. This was the very first time I met a Pink Kia Cerato in China, and even better; it was the very first time I met a Pink Kia in China. The vehicle was driving at rather high speed but I wanted a pic from up front. I asked the taxi driver to speed up a bit, which he did.

A very law-enforcement Beijing-Jeep Grand Cherokee, seen on the parking lot of the Cipate police equipment show in Beijing. The Beijing police still uses a many Cherokee’s, mostly for ferrying around high ranking coppers. The Grand Cherokee was made in China from 2005 until 2008 by the Beijing-Jeep joint venture.
Brilliance goes BMW again with new Minivan in China

This is the new Jinbei Haixing X30 minivan, with a neat and very contemporary BMW grille. The Haixing, meaning ‘Sea Star’, will be launched on the Chinese car market in June. Jinbei Automotive is a subsidiary of Brilliance Automotive, making vans, minivans and cheap SUV’s. Brilliance is the Chinese partner in the Brilliance-BMW joint venture that makes BMW-branded cars in China.
