Shanghai Auto Show: Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Edition Merveilleux

A very special edition of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. It is called the ‘Edition Merveilleux’ and there is only one on the planet, right now in Shanghai, and it has already been sold to a very rich Chinese businessman.

It is all black with even more naked carbon than on the ‘regular’ Super Sport. It has the words Edition Merveilleux on both doors. Interior is all white. An amazing beauty, but there is yet another special Veyron in Shanghai, more on that one later. For now; enjoy the pics:

Shanghai Auto Show: Geely-GLEagle GC6

The Geely-GLEagle GC6 is a concept mid size sedan and will see production within two years. It will get two engines: 1.5 and 1.3 turbo, mated to 6-speed manual transmission or a DCT. The GC6 measures 4470x1730x1500, wheelbase is 2600. Price will start around 90.000 yuan.

Shanghai Auto Show: new Chevrolet Malibu

GM launched the new Chevrolet Malibu at the Shanghai Auto Show. It will be made in the US and in China by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. The car’s Camaro-like design will certainly attract buyers in China. The Malubu stands on the same platform as the Buick Regal/Opel Insignia. Engines at launch: 2.0 and 2.4. The 2.0 turbo will join later. Price in China will start around 180.000 and end around 230.000.

Shanghai Auto Show: Roewe 750 facelifted

The all new Roewe 750 is still at least a year away. Roewe brings a facelifted 750 to the Shanghai Auto Show to keep sales up a bit until the replacement arrives. The facelifted car was expected a year ago at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show but didn’t make it there. Now it is ready and the biggest changes are up front and in the interior.

Shanghai Auto Show: Geely Englon SX6 SUV

The Geely Englon SX6 compact SUV is a almost ready for production-concept car. Very heavy lines up front give it some sporty look, urban-cool it is. The SX6 gets a 1.6 litre engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Size: 4200x1770x1675, wheelbase is 2550. Read more »

Shanghai Auto Show: green Roewe’s for the Future

All automakers need to show some greenieweeny and so did Roewe with two green cars that might one day see production. First up the 350 EV, based on the Roewe 350. The EV can be charged in 6 to 8 hours on 22v, with a fast charger it takes just 30 minutes for a 80% charge. Sure thing. Roewe did not disclose any other numbers, such as range or top speed.

Shanghai Auto Show: Greatwall Tengyi C50

The Greatwall Tengyi C50, English name Voleex C50, debuted as a concept at the Beijing auto Show in 2010. Greatwall brings the production car to the Shanghai Auto Show, the C50 will be listed in May. Engines: 1.5 turbo with 93kw and 180nm and a 1.5 with 77kw and 138nm. Size: 4638x1775x1450, wheelbase is 2700. Price will start around 100.000 yuan.

Shanghai Auto Show: Chery Cowin 5

The Chery Cowin 5 is based on the old Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun. Cowin is Chery’s brand name for its cheapest cars. The Cowin 5 gets a 1.8 liter engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed auto. Price will start around 80.000 yuan. Big car for little money, will no doubt prove another hit for Chery.

Shanghai Auto Show: FAW T012 Concept SUV

Another styling exercise from First Auto Works, FAW. The T012 Concept SUV is a.., yes, what is it? A sort of crossover coupe SUV crossover, if I may. There is an interior but no engine. Design though loox very neat with Mazda-like surfacing on the sides. It seats four but only if nobody takes any luggage but a toothbrush. Nice machine, tragically it is unlikely to ever see production.

Shanghai Auto Show: new Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun

The new Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show. About the two names: in Chinese it is called DongfangZhizi, meaning ‘Oriental Sun’. Chery however uses a different translation: Eastar. The new car has ‘Eastar’ on the back so from now on I will call it like that. The new Eastar will get a brother at Chery’s Cowin-brand, the Cowin E6 which will debut at a later show. Engines: 1.8 and 2.0 mated to a CVT. Size: 4866x1840x1500, wheelbase is 2768.
