Beijing Auto Show Live: Shuanghuan Noble goes Tiger

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

2010 is the Year of the Tiger in China so Smart-copycat Shuanghuan came with a Noble special-tiger-edition, roofracks included. It’s not a concept or a funcar for the show, customers can really buy it. Shuanghuan always sais the Noble isn’t a copy because the engine is in front. That is their opinion. The Noble-Tiger is powered by a 1.1 litre four cilinder with 33.5kw and 72nm. Growl! It costs 50.700 rmb. The skinny girl is from Russia, I asked, she needs to eat more butter.

Beijing Auto Show Live: Dongfeng I-Car Concept

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

A nice concept from Dongfeng. And it was about time the boys from Wuhan got a little creative, their line up including the joint venture machines is rather boring. This one might change that, a bit. The I-Car, guess what, is a plug-in electric. Size: 2999x1670x1540. ’2999′ has to do with a Chinese tax-law, cars under 3 meter pay less. The range of the I-Car is 60 kilometer. That is all the info Dongfeng wished to share. No plans for production in the near future.

Beijing Auto Show Live: CH Auto Aculeus Concept

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

CH Auto is an independent automotive design and development firm in China and every Beijing Show they bring one concept to show their abilities. Looking at the car it is indeed an able firm. The Aculeus is powered by a BMW N62B48 V8, no darn hybrids here, with 367hp and 490nm. 0-100 in 5.2 seconds, top speed 270km/h. Sure thing! Size: 4500x1844x1306, wheelbase is 2700 and weight is 1600kg. No plans for production yet, likely not ever, but a very pretty machine. More pics:

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

The price for the weirdest name goes to this one, congratulations Gonow with the Aoosed G5. Actually a very fine looking car and new luxury territory for Gonow, might they succeed. Size: 4640x1815x1800, wheelbase is 2745 and weight 1700kg for the 2wd and 1790 for the 4wd. A small difference indeed. Engine is a 2.4 with a far too less 100kw and 196nm@2500-3500rpm. Price for this machine will start around 160.000, hitting right on a very busy and competitive marketplace.

Geely Emgrand GE is Excellent

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

The 2008 Geely GE came back in Beijing as the Geely Emgrand GE. It got a new front because many said the old one looked to much like a Rolls Royce. Geely handed out a nice little brochure so now I know all details of the car. First: ‘GE’ stand for ‘Geely Excellence’. Second: guess what?, it’s a plug-in electric.

BAW revealed the 007 medium-suv today at the Beijing Auto Show. The car is supposed to be ready for production but the one and only 007 on the stand certanly was not. Especially the interior showed it was far from a finished automobile. Still, BAW handed out a leaflet that describes the 007 as a car one can buy today. My guess is it will take a while before one really can.

Geely brought two small suv to the Beijing Auto Show, the GLEagle GX5 and GP5. It ain’t just a suv mind, it is a ‘YUV’, which stand for ‘Young’s SUV’. The GX5 and GP5 are ‘Small Sized Classic Style YUV’s’. All according to Geely’s press release. Inventing a new class and immediately have a classic, Geely can do. Size: 3813x1762x1670, wheelbase is 2370. Geely lists two engines, a bit unusual for a concept so the G’s might make it into production, we like. Engines a 95kw 1.3 Turbo (!) and a 78.5kw 1.5. The 1.3T has a 6 speed manual. Red car is the GP5.
