The Mercedes-Benz GLK has been launched on the Chinese car market, it is made in China by the Beijing-Benz joint venture that also makes the c-class and E-class. Price starts at 408.000 yuan and ends at 557.000 yuan. Lone engine is the 3.0 V6 with 240hp and 300nm.

The new Beijing Auto E-series is based on the platform of the Smart FourFour, a Smart with space for four that was made by NedCar in the Netherlands between 2004 and 2006. The Smart Forfour shared most of its components with the 2003 Mitsubishi Colt which was made at the same factory. The ForFour was killed after only two years due to very slow sales. Now we know where the platform went!
Ten brand-new Mercedes-Benz E300L’s burned to Ashes in China

Sad news… There was a horrible accident on a highway in Hunan Province on February 9. A huge transport truck loaded with 12 brand-new Mercedes-Benz E300L’s went up in flames, the fire destroyed 10 of the Benzes, total loss is estimated at 5 million yuan. Fortunately the driver and co-driver weren’t hurt.

The Beijing-Benz joint venture has started to export the China-made Mercedes-Benz E-class L, the fist batch of 35 vehicles will go to South Africa. The China-made E-class L is extended by some 14 centimeters for more space in the back.

Mercedes-Benz and BMW (BMW) dealers deepened their discounts on some models in China last month as slowing property and stock markets weighed on premium-car purchases, according to a research firm.
Average prices of Daimler AG’s basic 2012 Mercedes-Benz C200 sedan at Chinese dealerships were 16 percent below the manufacturer’s recommended price last month, compared with 14 percent in October and 3.4 percent in July, when the model became available, according to data from China Auto Market.

Mercedes-Benz says China sales totaled 14,470 in July, down 14.5% from June. Mercedes-Benz’s China sales in the first seven months are up 50% from a year earlier
Sales of Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz cars in China slowed in July, reflecting weakening sales of passenger vehicles in the world’s largest auto market. The company said in a statement Tuesday that sales of its passenger cars in China totaled 14,470 in July, down from the 16,925 vehicles it reported for June.
