Workers are still working on Ford’s booth on the Beijing Auto Show, fortunately they already unpacked the new Ford Focus ST that will debut on Monday. The Focus ST is powered by a 2.0 turbocharged Ecoboost engine, good for 250hp and mated to a 6-speed manual.
Ford to invest $760 million in China to Double production capacity

Ford plans to build a $760 million assembly plant in Hangzhou that will double its Chinese output to 1.2 million vehicles annually.
Ford and joint venture partner Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co. will start construction later this year and the plant will open in 2015, initially producing 250,000 vehicles a year. The new factory, which follows other capacity expansions, brings Ford’s total investment in China to $4.9 billion.
China-made Ford Kuga to debut at the Beijing Auto Show

The China-made Ford Kuga will debut at the Beijing Auto Show and it will be listed on the Chinese car market in the second half of this year. The Kuga is made in China by the Chang’an-Ford joint venture and is Ford’s first locally produced SUV.

Ford will unveil the new Focus ST at the Beijing Auto Show. The ST will have a neat 250 hp power and goes into production at the Ford plant in Chongqing in May.
The Ford ST will be able to speed from 0 to 100 km in 6.0 seconds and will offer some stiff competition to the likes of VW GTI, Mazdaspeed 3 and Subaru WRX once it is launched in the Chinese markets. Among its other features will be a six speed manual transmission and sports tuned suspension.
Ford sales in China Down 16% in Q1

Ford’s sales in China fell almost 16% in the first quarter from a year ago, but its partnership in Russia reaped a 30% sales increase for the same period. Both are growing markets where Ford is investing to build more vehicles. China is the biggest global market, but the new car market has slowed after a decade of double-digit annual growth.

The Chang’an-Ford joint venture announced this morning that Ford’s new three-cylinder 1.0 turbocharged Ecoboost engine will be used in Chinese-made Fords. Ford to invest 600 million USD in China Factory

Ford’s China unit will invest about $600 million to increase the capacity of one of its passenger-car factories by almost 60 percent as it looks to expand its operations in the world’s largest auto market.
The automaker, along with joint venture partner Changan Automobile, will raise capacity at its factory in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing by 350,000 units to 950,000 vehicles annually by 2014, Ford said in an e-mailed statement yesterday. Construction is expected to begin immediately, it said.

Ford China sales up 28% in February

Ford said Wednesday its sales in China totaled 40,978 vehicles in February, up 28% on year and bolstered by strong demand for its Mondeo sedan and Transit transporter van. Ford sold 27,616 Ford-branded vehicles in February, an increase of 21%, it said in a statement.
