The Citroen Numero 9 concept car debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. The Numero 9 previews the upcoming Citroen DS9, the intended flagship of the DS-range and with that of the Citroen brand. The DS-range will be made in China by the new Chang’an-PSA joint venture, this will include the DS9 when it hits the market in around three yeard. The Numero 9 was painted in sexy purple, put on a purple rug and lighted by a horrible ornament that hung right above the front window. All this made picturing this thing a bit challenging.

Citroen plans aggressive expansion in China

Citroen wants to expand aggressively on the China car market, and they want to do so with the DS-range. The attack starts with the DS5 which will be listed as an import on the Chinese car market sometime around the middle of this year. Second car to come is the DS3 and third the DS4, both will be listed as imports near the end of this year. Read more »

This is the new Citroen DS9 shooting brake concept during a photo shoot in Paris. The DS9 previews Citroen’s new DS-flagship and will officially debut at the Beijing Auto Show next month. Design is based on the Citroen Metropolis concept sedan that debuted at the Shanghai World Expo back in 2010.

Spy shots from the Citroen DS3 and DS5 testing in China. Both cars will debut at the Beijing Auto Show and April and they will be listed on the Chinese car market that same month. The DS3 and DS5 will be imported into China, local production at the new Chang’an-PSA joint venture is at least one year away.

Update: Citroen denies it can’t find DS-dealers in China, says it has 13

PSA Peugeot Citroen’s car venture in southern China said on Thursday that it is on schedule to bring its DS models to China in the second quarter, denying a media report that claimed otherwise. Changan PSA Automobile (CAPSA) plans to open 16 dealership outlets in China initially and 13 are already under construction, it said in a statement.

Citroen can’t find Dealers in China for DS models

PSA Peugeot Citroen’s car venture in south China might have to postpone its plan to sell imported Citroen DS models as it has been unable to find any dealers, the Shanghai Securities News said on Thursday. Changan PSA JV to start production in mid-2013

A new joint venture (JV) between the China Changan Automobile Group and French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen will start production in the middle of 2013, Changan’s chairman Xu Liuping said Sunday. Production will start with Citroen’s DS-line of vehicles, including the DS3, DS4 and DS5.

The venture will have an initial annual output capacity of 200,000 vehicles and engines and will gradually increase capacity in accordance with market demand, Xu said at the company’s founding ceremony, held in the city of Shenzhen in south China’s Guangdong province. Read more »

Citroën DS4 to Come to China

The Citroën DS4 will be listed on the Chinese car market before the end of this year. It will arrive as an import to be sold alongside the imported DS3. The DS5 which debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show will be made in China by the Chang’an-Peugeot-Citroën (aka Chang’an-PSA) joint venture, production will start late next year. Eventually the DS3 and DS4 will be made in China as well  by the same joint venture, when exactly is yet unclear. The joint venture is already responsible for the distribution of all DS-models.
