New pics from the upcoming Chang’an MPV. Price is expected to start around 75.000 yuan. Chan’an will offer a passenger version and a version for commercial use. Engine very likely to be the new B16 that will also power the C201 sedan. See below for the first pics of the interior.

Spy Shots: Chang’an C201 Mermaid

The Chan’an C201 Mermaid (Meirenyu) debuted as a hybrid concept at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. One car, with a barely camouflaged C201 nameplate, was seen testing near the factory. The C201 will be Chang’an’s biggest car to date and slot above the CX30.

Chang’an Auto is a big player in China. The company has joint ventures with Ford, Volvo, Mazda, Suzuki and PSA. Chang’an also makes a very successful range of mini vans under its own name. Less successful are the Chang’an passenger cars that sell only in very small numbers. Chang’an wants to change that and will come up with many new cars the coming years. One of those is this new medium sized MPV that will likely debut next year. Price to start around 75.000 yuan.

New Engines for Chang’an Auto

We missed it last week but except for three concept cars Chang’an did also bring three new engines to the Shanghai Auto Show. The engines are developed with some help from Mazda. The engines will be used in Chang’an’s own fast expanding line up. On the first pic a new 2.0 four-cilinder with direct injection, 152hp and 192nm.

Shanghai Auto Show: Chang’an goes Gandini with the Clover

This is the Chang’an Clover, a small full electric concept sedan. The rear wheel arch is an exact copy of Gandini’s most famous idea, visible on Lamborghini’s, Masarati’s and the Cizeta Moroder. Did Chang’an think we wouldn’t see? Anyway, Gandini’s brilliance is sure still strong after all those years because even on this Clover it loox extremely well.

Shanghai Auto Show: Chang’an Voss MPV Concept

If Chang’an Automotive thinks about the MPV of the Future they think about the Voss. Well, it for sure is striking with a lot of confusing lines, chrome, a two tone design and gull wing doors for easy access to 2025. The Voss is a plug-in hybrid with a 3.0 V5, the same drive line as the Chang’an Sense coupe concept.

Shanghai Auto Show: Chang’an Sense Concept Unveiled

Chang’an wants to go higher up in auto land, this Sense concept coupe is a preview of the things to come. On the left a beautiful blond girl, on the right a big black pole. The pole is for electricity, the Sense is a plug-in hybrid but fortunately with a decent 3.0 V6 under the hood. Forget about production but some of the design clues might come back at future Chang’ans.

Chang’an Automotive will bring this very well looking concept car to the Shanghai Auto Show. It is a preview of Chang’an’s new line up that has to compete with the biggest and best in autoland, such as Benz, Audi and BMW. Well, don’t we love this sort of ambitious plans? Chang’an Yuexiang 3G to be Listed in March

Chinese automaker Chang’an will launch a very special version of its Yuexiang sedan, the Yuexiang 3G. As the name indicates the Yuexiang 3G is all about wireless 3G connectivity. It has a terminal for GPS, anti-theft, a ‘traffic accident alarm’, an entertainment system, email, telephone and ‘information services’.
