Shanghai Auto Show Preview: Riich Z5 Coupe

If this is not a miracle I am no Dutchman writing about cars in Beijing. The Chery Riich Z5 Coupe, formerly known as Chery A6CC, will finally debut as a production car. The first concept goes way back to 2007. The still impressive looking coupe gets a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with 125kw and 235nm. A V6 will join the line up later.

Pics of the new Chery E5 have been leaking like water so Chery doesn’t do any trouble to keep the car secret for its Shanghai debut, one brownish E5 was spotted completely unguarded at Chery’s booth on the show.

This are the very first live pics of the Chery Cowin 5, it is based on the old Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun. The Cowin 5 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. The Cowin 5 gets a 1.8 liter engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed auto. Price will start around 80.000 yuan. Blue car in the small pic is the old Oriental Sun.

China carmaker Chery sales up 26% in March

Chery Automobile Co, China’s largest domestic brand, said Friday its global car sales rose 25.9 percent year on year to 61,240 units last month.
The figure represented an increase of 73.3 percent month on month as the auto market picked up momentum after February, when demand slowed over the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday break, said Jin Gebo, Chery’s spokesman.
In March, the automaker, sold 11,820 cars overseas, a new post-financial crisis high and up 57.1 percent from a year earlier. Meanwhile, its sales in the first quarter of the year climbed 11.8 percent year on year to 182,870 units.

Chery Cowin E6 naked from All Sides

Cowin is Chery’s new budget brand name and the Cowin E6 will for now be the most expensive Cowin car. The Cowin E6 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, price will start around 120.000 yuan. Engines: 1.8 and 2.0. Size: 4866x1840x1500, wheelbase is 2768. See below for more pics:
Chery-Rely X5 facelift for the Shanghai Auto Show

The Chery-Rely X5 SUv was launched in March 2010. Many though didn’t like the design, especially the front was good for a lot of ridicule. Chery so decided to change the X5 better soon than later, a facelifted car will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next month.

One spy shot from a new entry level hatchback, the Chery Riich G2. Wheelbase will be around 2500mm, engines likely 1.3 and 1.5. The Riich G2 is expected to hit the Chinese market in 2012 for around 75.000 yuan.

The new Chery A4 will slot right above the A3 in the Chery range. The A4 will be bigger, length is expected to be a little over 4.6 meter. The A4 stands on the same platform as the Chery-Riich G5. Engines: 2.0, 1.8 and 1.6.

Never throw away an old platform, Chery knows. This new Chery Cowin 2 is based on the old Chery Cowin which in turn is based on the ancient Seat Toledo for which Chery bought the rights from Seat way back in the late ’80′s. Cowin is Chery’s new budget brand and the 2 will be budget-budget with a price likely to start around 50.000 yuan. Engine: 1.5 with manual of auto.
