The new Citroen C4, called c-Quatre in China, will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Earlier on we saw spy shots of the C4 sedan, and today we have the first pics of an all-naked C4 hatchback. Biggest changes are up front with a new grille, new bumper and new front lights.

1994. Party-time in the great city of Wuhan in Hubei Province. The very first China-made Citroen ZX hatchback rolls off the line. The ZX was called ‘Fukang’ in China and made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, its full name therefore was: Dongfeng-Citroen Fukang.

Price started at 98.000 yuan in 1994, engines available: 1.4 and 1.6. China liked the ZX hatch and the ZX sedan that followed later, over the years more than a million were sold and many different variants appeared on the market, like stretched limousines and vans.

Dongfeng-Citroen ZX pickup truck from China

While doing some research on my story about the very rare China-made Peugeot 504 pickup truck I met a car even more special; the Dongfeng-branded Citroen ZX pickup truck. The Citroen ZX was made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, they made the ZX for the Chinese car market, called ‘Fukang’ in China. They also made a rare ‘Dongfeng-Citroen’-branded Fukang van.

Partner Dongfeng thought just a van was not enough and they decided to make a four-door pickup version of the van, branded as ‘Dongfeng’, and that is the car you see on these pics.History, so far, doesn’t tell whether PSA liked the initiative…

Back to 2008! This is, or was, the Dongfeng DFM7160 sedan. As far as we know there was only one ever made. It was a prototype based in the Citroen Fukang sedan made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. Dongfeng wanted to bring the DFM7160 to the market in late 2008 but for yet unknown reasons that never happened. The DFM7160 was a carefully kept secret, it didn’t appear on any auto show. Taxi! Citroen Fukang gets There fast in China

A Chinese taxi driver found his Citroen Fukang taxi a tad too boring and decided to sex things up with a neat aero-kit. Well, job well done. The good old Fukang is based on the Citroen ZX and was made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. Production finally ended in 2008, the Fukang has since been replaced by the c-Elysee.

Citroen c-Elysee police cars in China

Most police cars in China are Volkswagen, Volkswagen or Volkswagen. There are some strangers around such as Beijing Jeep, Roewe, Incalcu or Greatwall but Volkswagen is by far the biggest supplier. Citroen is a small player in police-car country but recently they had one big score: the Qiemo County Public Security Bureau (police) in Inner Mongolia province bought six brand-new Citroen c-Elysee police cars for patrol duties.
