The first spy shot of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee testing in China. The 2014 Cherokee is the successor of the Jeep Liberty, which was the successor of the original Cherokee. The new Cherokee is based on the platform that also underpins the Dodge Dart and the China-made Fiat Viaggio.
The 2014 Cherokee will be made in the US and in China. Production in the US will start this spring. Production in China is expected to start late next year at the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture, until then the Cherokee will be imported from the US.

Guangzhou Automobile Group has signed an agreement with Italian manufacturer Fiat SpA and its Chrysler Group LLC subsidiary to build and sell more vehicles, including Jeeps, in China. The companies said their deal was signed at Chrysler’s headquarters in Detroit on Tuesday, during the North American International Auto Show.

Fiat and Chrysler Group said today that they have reached an agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Group to build Jeeps in China for sale to Chinese consumers, the Jeeps will be made by the existing Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture. Under the agreement with Guangzhou, Fiat and the Chinese automaker hope to begin building a compact Jeep SUV in China for Chrysler for sale in China.

Fiat has applied for patent for the Chinese auto market on the Fiat Panda and Fiat Panda 4×4. This means the Panda is on its way to China, where it for its name alone kinda belongs. The Fiat Panda will be made in China by the new Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture.

The Fiat Viaggio has been launched on the Chinese auto market, price starts at 108.800 yuan and ends at 158.800 yuan (17.220 – 25.134 USD) The Viaggio is made in China by the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture, it debuted in April on the Beijing Auto Show. Next up is a hatchback based on the Viaggio sedan.

Fiat is working on a hatchback version of the new Viaggio, code -named ’343C’, which will debut next year, likely at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2013. Production of the Fiat Viaggio sedan started last week, the sedan will hit the Chinese car market in September for around 120.000 yuan.

The new Fiat Viaggio debuted last month at the Beijing Auto Show. That doesn’t mean however the Viaggio is ready for the Chinese car market as these new spy shots make clear. The new Fiat Viaggio debuted today at the Beijing Auto Show, it will be listed on the Chinese car market in the second half of this year and that is a bit later than expected. The Viaggio is based on the Dodge Dart that is based on Fiat’s C-EVO platform that also underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Its looks however are much more stylish than the Dart, much more Italian if you like, and definitely more than just a simple rebadge.
