Lifan 320

The Lifan 320 has never been a great succes on the Chinese auto market. One of the reasons might be that Lifan never offered a automatic transmission, buyers had to do with a 5-speed manual. Most buyers for this sort of vehicle live in cities with endless traffic jams, so they need automatics. Finally now Lifan listened and comes with a CVT for the 320. Price wil be around 10.000 yuan higher than the price of the manual car which starts at 26.800 and ends at 47.800.

Lifan is a maker of small and rather boring cars. Lifan knows. Boring cars don’t sell anymore. Lifan knows that too. Lifan needs more excitement, more speed, more horsepower!, and that is exactly what they are working on: a sportscar. The renderings show a very nice looking coupe, it is codenamed KY-one and that is all I know about it for now.

Published on April 24, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

Lifan Motor makes small hatchbacks and medium sedans. But in China, suv’s still make the money. So Lifan is in with this Lifan SUV. It doesn’t have a real name. Likely Lifan thought: “the simpler the better”. Why don’t they then call their sedans ‘sedan’? Things off course get confusing for customers if you sell more than one sort of the same car.
