Spy Shots: first pictures of the China-made Cadillac XTS

These are the very first spy shots of the production version of the China-made Cadillac XTS. The big Caddy will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and it will be listed on the Chinese auto market just before the end of this year. Note characters on the right, meaning ‘Shanghai-GM‘, the joint venture that makes the Cadillac XTS in China.

General Motors posts record sales in China in September

General Motors’ China sales hit a record in September, the US auto giant said Monday, amid a territorial row between Beijing and Tokyo that has reportedly hit the business of Japanese competitors.

GM’s sales in the world’s biggest car market reached 244,266 vehicles in September, rising 1.7 percent from the same month last year and jumping 10.5 percent from August, it said in a statement.

Sneaky sneaky… Somebody within GM has leaked some pics of the China-made Buick Encore to the press. The Buick Encore will be launched on the Chinese car market on October 10, powered by a 1.4 turbo with 138hp and 200nm. Chinese name will be ‘Angkela’, a transliteration of Encore.

General Motors opened a new, large vehicle test track in China Saturday as part of its push to retain its leading market share in the world’s largest auto market.

The No. 1 US automaker and its joint venture partners, including SAIC Motor, invested about $252.5 million to build what GM China President Kevin Wale called the country’s largest proving ground.

A very flashy Buick Excelle XT, seen parked on a bicycle lane (bad car!) in Beijing. The Excelle XT is made more pretty with a matte orange wrap, matte black alloys, a matte-blacked Buick logo on the grille and matte black mirrors. Me think it is a fine combination of colors.

New spy shots from the upcoming electric Chevrolet Sail, that will likely not be called ‘Chevrolet’ at all. The ‘Sail EV’ concept debuted on the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show with a new S-shaped logo, the production car still got it, leading to a frenzy of speculation in the Chinese press whether this means a new brand has been born. GM doesn’t say anything but earlier on we heard GM and its joint venture partner SAIC were considering a separate brand for electric cars, this might be it.

Here we have a very good car. This is a Chevrolet Cruze with a super fat body kit! Wadda plastic, so much that the Chevrolet logo is half dead. Dark head lights a fine touch. This fantastic automachine lives somewhere in the outskirts of Shanghai and we heard the owner threw some 10.000 yuan at his creation, money well spend indeed!

Cadillac ATS will be made in China from late 2013

The new Cadillac ATS will be made in China from late 2013 by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. In the meantime the ATS will be imported into China, its debut will be at the Guangzhou Auto Show in  November. The imported ATS however will be expensive compared to locally made competition such as the Audi A4L, the BMW 3Li and the Mercedes-Benz C-class. The real battle then, will only begin in early 2014.
