A Zotye thinks it is a Toyota in China

Here we have a very schizophrenic car, parked on a parking lot close to my home in Beijing. It is a Zotye 2008 mini SUV but badged as a Toyota. Car-buyers can get these badges right at the dealer, no need for the after market. Things though get even worse:

Zotye joins the cloning game in China with this new Z300 sedan. It is an almost exact copy of the JDM Toyota Allion. A big step back for Zotye, until now they mostly made rebadged Fiats and Daihatsu’s under license. Not good, but at least they paid for it. The Z300 however is just a plain Chinese clone. Horrible!, bad Zotye.

The new Zotye Z300 sedan will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show starting next week, it will be listed on the China car market early 2012. The Z300 is Zotye’s first full-developed car, up until now they based their cars on old platforms from Daihatusu and Fiat. Price will start around 70.000 yuan.

New spy shots from the upcoming Zoyte minicar code named A00. The A00 has about the size of the Suzuki Alto and, one must say, the loox as well. Zotye did however change the front a bit. Except that, the A00 and Alto seem for 99% similar.

Zotye Automobile has applied for patent on the T200, T300 and T600 SUV’s. All cars debuted as concepts at the Shanghai Auto Show in April and are part of a big push to move Zotye away from making old Fiats and become a serious player on the Chinese car market. On the first pic the T200.

Zotye has officially launched the V10 minivan on the Chinese market. The V10 will compete with offerings from Wuling and Chang’an. Price starts at 39.800 yuan and ends at 50.800 yuan.

The new Zotye V10 is aimed at minivan powerhouses Wuling and Chang’an. It is new territory for Zotye that never made this sort of cars before. Price will start around 30.000 yuan and end around 50.000 yuan.

Size: 4565x1766x1493, wheelbase is 2700. Engine: Mitsubishi sourced 1.5 with 113hp and 147nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic.

Chinese automaker Zotye is on a roll. In late May it listed the Fiat-based Z200 and Z200HB, the new Z300 sedan will be listed in Q4 and on Zotye showed three more concept cars on the Shanghai Auto Show in April. There was however one more car expected at the Shanghai show but Zotye’s new mini car did not appear. Here t is again on one spy shot showing Zotye is still working on it. It will come very cheap and will compete with cars such as the Chang’an-Suzuki Alto. Debut is now expected later this year, likely at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December.
