The Shanghai SH760A sedan, made in various forms by the Shanghai Auto Works, now SAIC, from 1974 until 1980 when it was replaced by the SH760B, which continued all da way until 1991 in basically the same shape as the SH760A.
The Sanhe Classic Car Museum in Chengdu, an Introduction
Published on August 21, 2012 by Tycho de Feyter
Last week I was a couple of days in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. Very busy with such and such but I managed to sneak out for a few hours for a visit to the fantastic Sanhe Classic Car Museum. The ‘Sanhe Group‘ is a major car dealer in Chengdu, selling, among others, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Rolls-Rolls. The group also has a small department which ‘rebuilds’ classic cars and that is what the museum is all about. Beautiful old cars, restored to the absolute max…

Authorities in the great city of Hefei in Anhui Province ordered the destruction of 156 illegal taxi’s, the order was carried outwith great vigor by police, city workers, and… legal taxi drivers who were likely the most happy men in the world when they hit those criminal cabs with sledge hammers and what not they could find. Chinese Porsche driver is not too happy with a Cayman
Published on August 20, 2012 by W.E. Ning
Seen on a parking lot near a gigantic bus station in Beijing, a red Porsche Cayman with an interesting license plate. The owner doesn’t seem to happy with his little sportsmachine. But hey!, most car magazines say the Cayman handles better than that big-assed 911. Too bad the babes don’t read all that…
Hyundai Tiburon in black & white in China
Published on August 20, 2012 by Tycho de Feyter
Seen in my street in Beijing; a very black & white Hyundai Tiburon. Good work with eye for detail, even the mirrors are two-tone. The second generation Tiburon (aka Tuscani aka Coupe) was made from 2001 until 2008. Late in its life it was officially exported to China but sales were slow.

BYD Flyer thinks it is a BMW Type R
Published on August 19, 2012 by Tycho de Feyter

This is a BYD Flyer with fake BMW and Type R badges, seen by reader ‘Buzzt’ on a local highway in Zhejiang Province, thank you for the picture! The BYD Flyer was the very first BYD-branded car, production started in 2004 and continued until 2008. It wasn’t that much of an automobile. Small, cheap, crappy and very slow. The owner’s idea to make it look more up-market is therefore perfectly understandable. But a ‘BMW Type R’? That indeed is a bit too much.
Honda Civic sedan gets a bit Racy in China
Published on August 19, 2012 by Tycho de Feyter
Here we have a cool customized sixth-generation Honda Civic sedan, seen in the great city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. The 6th-gen Civic was only made for four year, from 1996 until 2000, and was never officially exported to China. I doubt someone would go through all the gray-market trouble to bring a Civic in so this is likely and ex-diplomat car that stayed around.
