The new BYD F3 will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April, it will be called ‘F3 Su Rui’, best translated as ‘quick (and) sharp. This might mean the current BYD F3 will continue as a buget-alternative.

The F3 Su Rui seems to be a much better, and more expensive, car than the old one. It stands on a brand-new platform and comes with a new 1.5 turbo ‘TID’ engine mated to a 6-speed DCT.

The F3 Su Rui loox like a very fine car, and, as a first for BYD, its design ain’t copied from someone else.

The entirely forgettable current F3. Price starts at 66.900 yuan. Price of the new car will likely start around 90.000 yuan. I am afraid the F3 will stay on for a while until BYD comes up with a real successor (F2?).

Jianghuai Auto Corporation, JAC, became famous overnight with their interpretation of the Ford F150 pickup truck. That one however is not yet on the Chinese car market. This JAC Rein (aka JAC Eagle) has been on the market for a few years and to push sales up a bit JAC now comes with a cheapie-cheap base model.

Its price is only 79.800 yuan, about the same as a Suzuki Swift, and for that money you get a very basic 4×2 with an old 2.0 engine mated to a cranky five-speed manual, and that impressive grille for sure. The JAC Rein is based on the last-last-gen Hyundai Santa Fe and made under license by JAC under their own name.

The new Chang’an Eado sedan debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September last year and debuted in China at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December. The Eado will be listed on the Chinese car market on March 18, price will range from 80.000 yuan to 100.000 yuan.

The Eado loox at good as it does because it was designed by Italians from Chang’an’s Italian design center. Job well done indeed. The Eado and will kick-start Chang’an’s invasion of the European market, when export starts is yet unsure. When exported to Europe it will cost at least 15.000 euro’s. Worth it? Well yez, if you want a new Chinese car from a brand that nobody knows about. Chang’an indeed, got some marketing to do.

The Eado comes with two engines: 1.5 turbo and 1.6. Chang’an found new little clean words: ‘Blue core’, it means the Eado is kinda clean, CO2 of the 1.5 turbo is lower than 120g/km and that is just fine in old Europe but extremely clean for China.

The new Hyundai Elantra, known as Avante in some markets, will be listed on the China car market in June, it will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Price will range from 100.000 to 150.000 yuan. The Elantra is made in China by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture.

It will likely be named ‘New Elantra’ because the current Elantra, the ‘Elantra-Dongyue’ and the last-gen Elantra, called ‘Elantra’ will both continue. Engines for the new-new Elantra: 1.6 and 1.8, mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

The new Geely GLEagle GC7 was expected to hit the Chinese car market in December last year but it didn’t happen, the GC7 has now been delayed to an unspecific ‘first half’ of this year. Debut of the production version is scheduled for the Beijing Auto Show in April. Price will range from 70.000 yuan to 100.000 yuan.

There will be two engines: a 1.5 with 106hp and 135nm and a 1.8 with 139hp and 170nm, both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic. Size: 4435x1759x1440, wheelbase is 2600.

GM has applied for patent in China on the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon, it will be listed as an import on the Chinese car market this year, the China-bound car is expected to debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Cadillac already sells the CTS-V sedan and CTS Coupe in China.

The CTS-V’s are powered by a supercharged 6.2 V8 that poops out 556hp and a truly impressive 747nm, mated to a 6-speed automatic. Price of the sedan starts at 1.1 million yuan or 174.000 US dollar. The Wagon will likely be more expensive.

The new Volkswagen Sagitar will be listed on the China car market in February. The Sagitar is made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture and is based on the American NCS-6 Jetta. The current Volkswagen Sagitar is based on the old Europan Jetta.

The current Sagitar will die, Volkswagen has no plans to continue production. There will be three engines in the new car: 1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI and the good old naturally aspirated 1.6. Price will start around 133.000 yuan and end around 185.000 yuan, almost exactly the same as the outgoing Sagitar.

The massive Carlsson CGL 45 has landed in China. The German tuner debuted on the Chinese market at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December (hello sexy girl) and has now opened two dealers in China, one in Beijing and one in Guangzhou.

Carlsson seems to know the market so the first car of offer is an SUV. The CGL 45 is based on the Mercedes-Benz GL-class but loox a whole lot better. The V8 is popped up slightly and delivers a neat 430hp and 600nm. Price in China: 1.6 million yuan or 251.000 US dollar.

The new Fiat Freemont SUV has been listed on the Chinese car market as an import. Price starts at 249.800 yuan and ends at 274.800 yuan. The Fiat Freemont is based on the Dodge Journey. Lone engine is American too: a big 2.4 with 175hp and 225nm. Via: Autohome.
