The new MG6 Saloon officially launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show, it is based in the Roewe 550 just like the MG6 hatchback. Underpinnings and engines are all the same. Guangzhou Auto Show: Dongfeng-Nissan Qichen
Published on December 21, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

A new brand from the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture. It is called ‘Qichen’ (Venucia in English) and what you see on pic is their first car. Or actually, their first half-a-car. Indeed, those madmen from Dongfeng-Nissan only brought half of it to the show. The other half was not finished yet, a blue curtain hung trough the middle of the roof. I do not like this. Or you bring a car or you do not. What does this mean for the Qichen-brand? Will al their cars be half baked? Crap, very big crap.

Guangzhou Auto Show: Melkus RS2000 debuts in China
Published on December 21, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

A pleasant surprise was the arrival of the Melkus RS2000 on Chinese shores. The German sportmachine costs 1.850.000 yuan and comes with a tubrocharged 4-cilinder with 300hp, weight is only 1000kg. Cars like this are becoming more popular in China, especially for trackday use. The Chinese market also loves gimmicks like gull-wing doors. It so shouldn’t be a problem for Melkus to sell a few.

Spanish outfit Advanced Design (A.D.) brought the Tramontana supercar to China. It costs 16.800.000 yuan. A.D. only makes around 15 Tramontana’s a year and the newly rich in China don’t like to wait, A.D. better start making more if they want to play serious. Koenigsegg said they hope to sell between 16 and 20 cars to China in 2011. Little marketing mistake: they actually said: “to China and Taiwan”, like Taiwan is a different country, don’t come with that to the Chinese… The Agera weights 1290kg, has a V8 with 1080hp and 11oonm, top speed is 390km/h, and does 0-100 in 3.1 seconds.

Jaguar is relatively new in China and faces an uphill fight against Audi, Benz and BMW, which all do have cheaper V6′s on offer.
Guangzhou Auto Show: facelifted Suzuki SX4 Listed & Priced
Published on December 21, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

The SX4 sedan is made in China by Suzuki’s joint venture with Chang’an Automotive. It is selling well but not as good at Suzuki would like. The facelift needs to bring sales up with a more luxurious look and better materials in the in terior. The look part seems all right, it got a lot more chrome which indeed makes it look a bit more expensive. Price then: starts at 79.800 and ends at 123.800. Engines 1.6 or 1.8, manual or auto.
