Spy Shots: Chery M16 Sedan

Chery M16 Sedan

The M16 is a new sedan from Chery. It will debut in 2012. There will be a M17 wagon as well. Length will be around 4.6 meters and wheelbase around 2.7 meters. Engines likely to be used: 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, mated to a CVT transmission. The M16 and M17 use the same basic platform as the Chery A3.

Spy Shots: BYD S6 in all Colors

The production version of the BYD S6 suv was expected to debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November but didn’t make it. Debut is now scheduled for the Shanghai Auto Show in April. BYD has shown the S6 as a concept car on various show before and alwys in a rather boring silver color. New pics show the S6 can look much better. Engines are confirmed: 2.0 with 140hp and 186nm, and a 2.4 with 161hp and 216nm.

Spy Shots: China-made BMW X1

The BMW X1 is made in China by the Brilliance-BMW joint venture, production has started and the car will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. BMW will sell the X1 with the 2.0 turbo with 245hp mated to a 8-speed automatic. Making the X1 in China makes a lot of sense, the Chinese market continues to snap up suv’s in any shape and size. The X1 is the 3th BMW for the joint venture, they already make the 5 and 3-series.

Spy Shot: Brilliance A3 SUV and A4 Sedan

A new suv from Brilliance codenamed A3. It is based on the same platform as the upcoming A4 sedan. It is bigger, more ‘wagon-like’ than the other Brilliance suv we saw earlier. Chang’an is going suv, Big Time

Chang’an Automotive has joint ventures with Ford, Volvo, Mazda, PSA and Suzuki. They also make their own Chan’an branded minicars and small sedans. Chang’an however wants more, earlier we saw a new big sedan coming up and now we have drawings of four (4) new Chang’an suv’s, codenamed W1, W2, W3 and W4. W1 is the biggest, W4 the smallest. Patent Applied: Geely GLEagle GC3

Geely GLEagle GC3

Geely’s sub brand GLEagle (aka Global Hawk) will bring a new small size sedan on the market called GC3. It is based on the Geely Kingkong-2 but more luxurious and with a different front and back. Size similar to Kingkong, about 4.2 meters long. Engine will be the same 1.5 with 69kw and 128nm.

Spy Shot: FAW-Besturn B70 to get a new Face

The FAW-Besturn B70 gets a facelift and a new engine. Facelift most visible in new grille, just like we saw earlier on spy shots of the facelifted B50. New engine is a 1.8 with 102kw. The 2.0 engine will continue but that one only got 6kw more. The 2.0 is 27 kg heavier than the 1.8. Top speed though is a claimed 200 km/h for both cars. The facelifted B50 and B70 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

New Chevrolet Malibu comes to China

The new Chevrolet Malibu will hit the Chinese market in the second half of this year. It will be made by Shanghai-GM and replace the aging Epica. Engines: 1.6 turbo, 2.0. 2.0 turbo and 2.4. The Malibu is based on GM’s Epsilon II platform. On pic a spy shot from the new Malibu testing on the road in China.

Chery’s Cowin-series are meant to be cheap transport for the masses. The new Cowin E6 however almost loox as a luxury sedan. The car, codenamed B16, will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

Spy Shots: FAW-Hongqi C131 based on Audi A6

We reported earlier on the upcoming Hongqi C131. By that time the Chinese press reported that the platform was independently developed by FAW. We had our doubts, and that proves correct. Chinese media now reports the C131 is actually based on an Audi A6 platform.
