The Lincoln Continental will finally launch on the Chinese car market on November 28. Originally it was scheduled to launch in September, what caused the delay is unknown. Price of the Continental will start at 420.000 yuan or $62.000. The Continental will be imported into China, there are no plans for local production.

Chinese automotive upstart Zhiche Auto has unveiled its English name and a new logo. The name is Singulato and the logo represents an overlapping S and X. The S stands for Singulato and the X for endless possibilities. The company also announced they have received $600 million of funding.

MG has released a teaser of their new ZS SUV, set for debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month. The ZS comes with sporty looks, broad shoulders, and tiny non-functional roof rails. The grille looks impressive, very British in a way, with a large MG logo in the middle.

China Car History: The Fifth Prototype Of The Hongqi CA774

Today in China Car History the fifth prototype of the Hongqi CA774, once intended as the successor of the famous Hongqi CA770 state limousine. Six prototypes were made from 1972 until 1979 but the CA774 sadly never saw production.

At least four prototypes are still around. One stands in the Hongqi Museum in Changchun, another one in the museum’s warehouse, one stands abandoned on a parking lot on the Tsinghua University in Beijing, and one used to be at the Dalian Classic Car Museum and stands now at the Beijing Classic Car Museum.

And that is the car we are looking at today, seen above in very good shape during my visit to Dalian in 2010.

The new Buick GL8 MPV has been launched on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 289.900 yuan and ends at 449.900 yuan ($42.800-66.400).  The new GL8 comes in two variants; the luxury Avenir, pictured above, and an ES base model. The Avenir comes with extra fancy paint, a different grille, special alloys, and a luxurious interior.

GM China has released a teaser of the Buick Velite concept car that will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month, with sharp looking lights and a blue-glowing grille. But we are very sure the production version won’t get any of that.

It is indeed very odd that Buick bothers with a concept at all because the real thing is ready to go. Buick probably doesn’t want the Velite to take away attention from the new GL8, which is one of Buick’s biggest moneymakers in China.
