A fantastic Alfa Romeo 166, Spotted in China in the Beijing Tuning Street, looking absolutely stunning in Alfa Red. As it happens, I was just there when the vehicle arrived, its beautiful lines playing with the early summer sun. And out came a Chinese man looking so incredible extremely utterly cool, wearing black trousers an all, that I almost disappeared.

Spotted in China: Cadillac Brougham stretched limousine

A crazily beautiful Cadillac Brougham stretched limousine, Spotted in China on the Beijing Tuning Street. The Cadillac Brougham was manufactured from 1987 until 1992 with a facelift in 1990, this is a facelifted car. The Brougham was never officially exported to China so how this monster ended up in the capital is somewhat of a mystery. This stretched limo is only the second Brougham we meet in China, after a white 5.0 sitting among friends.

A very Bling Smart ForTwo, Spotted in China on the Beijing Tuning Street. The good Smart was wrapped in an eye-sticking silver chrome wrap, and further smartened up by sporty 9-spoke alloys, and not much else. The wrap was of high quality, sucking light out of the sunny sky and mirroring the wide surroundings.

The Hyundai ix25 SUV will hit the Chinese car market in October. The Hyundai ix25 debuted as a concept on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The production version will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in September. The ix25 will give Hyundai a brand new contender in the hotly competed compact-SUV segment. Price will start around 140.000 yuan and end around 170.000 yuan.

FAW launches Junpai brand in China

First Auto Works (FAW) has launched a new passenger car brand in China. The new brand is called ‘Junpai’ (骏派) in Chinese and ‘Jumper’ in English. The brand will use the standard FAW logo, see top-right. The first Junpai car is the upcoming FAW Junpai D60, formerly known as the FAW Xiali T102.

Next up are a small SUV, a compact SUV, and a compact sedan. The latter is likely the vehicle currently known as the ‘Besturn B30‘. FAW recently said there will be no Besturn-branded car below the current Besturn B50, indicating the B30 project will be transferred to the new Junpai brand.

Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in China

The Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach will have its worldwide debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in China, scheduled to start in mid December. The S600 Maybach is a stretched out and dressed up luxurious variant of the ‘base’ Mercedes-Benz S600 S-Class.

Mercedes expects China to become the largest market for the Maybach series and that is why it will debut in Guangzhou, and not in New York or Geneva. The S600 Maybach will be powered by a powerful variant of the twin-turbocharged 6.0 V12. In standard form the engine delivers 530hp and 830nm, the Mayback will likely go to 550 horses at least. Price in China will start around 3 million yuan or 480.000 USD.
