China Car Sales up 4.04% in August

China car sales hit 1.71 million units in August, up 4.04 percent year on year and up 6.72 percent month on month. The automobile output hit 1.71 million units in August, up 2.22 percent year on year, but down 0.34 percent month on month, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

A very bad burning Bentley Continental GT, seen full in flames in the great city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. The fire appears to originate from the back end of the engine bay. From there the fire engulfed the entire engine and the front and center of the passenger compartment.

Volvo working on 'S90L' exclusively for the Chinese car market

Volvo is working on a new large sedan exclusively for the Chinese car market called the Volvo S90L. The S90 is basically a stretched variant of the generation Volvo S80, which is based on Volvo’s new SPA platform that also underpins the new Volvo XC90.

The S90L will be manufactured in China where it will compete directly with the locally made & stretched Audi A6L, BMW 5Li, and Mercedes-Benz E-class L. The S90L is expected to launch in China in late 2015. Power will come from the same engines as in the new XC90: T5 257hp 2.0 turbo, T6 325hp 2.0 turbo-supercharged, and a T8 405hp 2.0 turbo-supercharged + electric motor.

At the same time Volvo is developing the full size Volvo S100, which will compete with the A8, 7-Series, and S-Class. Design will be based on the Volvo Concept Universe that debuted on the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. The S100 will debut sometime around 2018.

Spotted in China: Opel Omega 2.0 GL

A light gold Opel Omega 2.0 GL sedan, Spotted in China close to the eastern section of the Third Ring Road in Beijing. The Omega was in reasonable shape but in urgent need of a good clean-up. The paint was fading a bit and some panel gaps were a tad too wide. Rust however was nowhere to be seen and all parts appeared to be in place.

A beautiful black W140 Mercedes-Benz S500, Spotted in China on the Beijing Asian Games Village car market in Beijing. The big Benz was in super perfect shape, as if it was new from the factory. The paint looked fresh, the chrome looked shiny, all parts were in place, original wheel covers, original badges, and no rust or rot in sight.

The  Dongfeng Fengshen A30 sedan has been launched on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 67.500 yuan and ends at 85.700 yuan, giving Dongfeng a new entry in a hard battled segment of the market.

The A30 is the largest Fengshen sedan so far, giving the brand an entry in the hyper competitive sub-compact sedan market. Fengshen is a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, making a range of relatively cheap passenger cars.
