The Toyota Prius is back in China. It is made by the FAW-Toyota joint venture and will be listed on the Chinese car market in February next year. The last-gen Prius was also made in China by FAW-Toyota but sales were so low that Toyota pulled the plug. They now, want to try again. Most parts, including the hybrid drive-train, will be imported straight from Japan and put together in the factory in Changchun where above pic was shot. Via: Autohome.

Ford to make more Engines in China

Ford Motor Co will bring 20 new engines and transmissions to China by 2015 to power the 15 new models it plans to introduce during the period.
The carmaker announced at the Guangzhou auto show last week that the new powertrains will include a 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbo engine that will be locally produced at its three-way tie-up with Chang’an Automobile Group and Mazda Motor Corp in the southwestern city of Chongqing.
Audi will sell over 300.000 cars in China this Year

German carmaker Audi AG’s China sales will surpass 300,000 vehicles this year as it continues to consolidate its two-decade reign in the luxury segment of the world’s largest auto market, according to the company’s sales chief in China.
Dominique Boesch, general manager of the Audi sales division at Sino-German joint venture FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co Ltd, said in an interview that the premium brand’s sales of more than 300,000 vehicles this year is “a clear direction” toward its target of moving 1 million units in the country from 2011 to 2013.
China-made Mercedes-Benz GLK to be listed in China in 02 next year

The China-made Mercedes-Benz will finally hit the Chinese car market in February next year. The GLK is made in China by the Beijing-Benz joint venture. Only engine will be the 3.0 with 245hp. Price is expected to start around 400.000 yuan. Via: Autohome.
How Chrysler helped to arm the Chinese army

Earlier on I wrote an article about how AM General helped China develop its Humvee-clone, the Dongfeng EQ 2050. But AM General was not the only American company helping to arm the Chinese army, there was another one; it was Chrysler.
Pic above shows the Beijing-Jeep 2022. Beijing-Jeep was a Chinese-American joint venture with Beijing Auto Works (BAW) and Chrysler. The Beijing-Jeep 2022 later changed name to Beijing 2022 and it now the most widely used 4×4 in the Chinese army.

This is the very first spy shot of the Hongqi C131 without any camouflage. The C131 will debut as a concept at the April 2012 Beijing Auto Show. It is based on the Toyota Crown from the FAW-Toyota joint venture, FAW is also the owner of the Hongqi brand.

Volkswagen Polo GTI to be listed in China next Year

The Volkswagen Polo GTI will be listed on the China car market sometime around June next year. The Polo GTI will be made by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture, the very first time a GTI-model is made domestically. Power comes from a 1.4 TSI with 180hp and 250nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG.
