The Lifan 330, formerly known as the ‘facelifted Lifan 320‘, has been launched on the Shanghai Auto Show. Design is a curious mix between the Fiat 500L and the Mini, where the Lifan 320 is just a Mini copy. Interestingly, Lifan says the 330 does not replace the 320, but must be seen as a more luxurious and slightly more upmarket variant of the 320. The 320 thus, won’t die yet.

The first leaked official pictures of the facelifted Lifan 320 show design has moved on from being a Mini copy to a mix between a copy of a Fiat 500L (coming to China) and a Mini. For Lifan, we call that an improvement. On the Beijing Auto Show in April last year we met a concept for a completely new Lifan 320 on a new platform. That car however has been cancelled and the platform will be used for a mini-SUV that loox a lot like the Suzuki SX4.

The Lifan 320 loox a tad too much like the Mini Cooper, especially around the grille. But it ain’t a 1:1 copy, the Lifan has 4 doors, is longer, and has a different roof. A 320 owner in Beijing decided to make his vehicle look just a little more like the real thing, with a load of fake badges, carefully positioned extra chrome, and stickers. The chrome bars over the grille are new, so are the side skirts, the racing stripes and the checkered-flag roof. But that’s just the start:

This is the Lifan New 320 concept, it previews the new, well, Lifan 320. The new Lifan 320 will debut sometime late last year, the concept was likely meant to lure investors. The current Lifan 320 was still parked on Lifan’s booth like nothing was afoot.

Here we have… a surprise. This is the new Lifan 320, it will debut tomorrow at the Beijing Auto Show and our spies snapped it while it was trying to hide in Lifan’s booth. This new 320 is a surprise because we haven’t seen any spy shots yet, this could indicate this new 320 ain’t yet ready for production yet.

The famous Lifan 320 in cherry-red sexed up to be a bit sporty. Some say it loox to much like a Mini, me think a Mini got two doors less. Furthermore, this fine little car costs only 36.500 yuan, including all the sporty stuff such as the low bumper and huge fake air vent under da bonnet.

The Lifan 320 is a funny car. Cheap and good looking. Some say it is a copy of the Mini, I don’t agree, the Lifan has two more doors. Anyway, here we have a couple in deep deep love with eachother and their Lifans. Yup, they have two, both are customized, and really like the man-woman-way-things-are.

The Lifan 320 is from now on available with a CVT. Lifan brought a very sport 320 to the Shanghai Auto Show to celebrate. It has spoilers, skirts and more spoilers an skirts, all in a different color than the rest of the car. New foglights and racing stripes. Nice combo but it very much need bigger wheels. The Lifan 320 is powered by a 1.3 with 88hp and 88nm. The sportset will be sold as an option. Price of the standard CVT car starts around 35.000 yuan.

The Lifan 320 has never been a great succes on the Chinese auto market. One of the reasons might be that Lifan never offered a automatic transmission, buyers had to do with a 5-speed manual. Most buyers for this sort of vehicle live in cities with endless traffic jams, so they need automatics. Finally now Lifan listened and comes with a CVT for the 320. Price wil be around 10.000 yuan higher than the price of the manual car which starts at 26.800 and ends at 47.800.
