German automobile manufacturer Audi announced Thursday that it sold a total of 313,036 vehicles in China, including Hong Kong, in 2011, representing year-on-year growth of 37 percent. Audi, a subsidiary company of Volkswagen, said the results showed that China has outstripped its home market to become the company’s largest market.

The Audi A4L will get a facelift. The A4L is a China-only version of the A4, stretched in the middle by some 10 centimeters for more space for passengers in the back. The A4L is made by the FAW-VW joint venture.

Audi A7 to be listed on China on November 19

The Audi A7 will be officially listed on the China car market on November 19. It will be imported, price will start around 700.000 yuan. The A5 Sportback is a huge success in China, the A7 will likely be popular as well. The Chinese market is all about ‘individual’ these days, sales of the Benz SLS are sky high as well while BMW had nothing to offer. Engines for the Audi A7 in China: 2.8 FSI and 3.0 Turbo. New spy shots of the new Audi A6L without any camouflage. The A6L is extended by some 10 centimeters to create more space for passengers in the back. Audi’s share of China’s luxury-car sales Down 25%

Audi’s status as the carmaker of choice for Chinese bureaucrats has emerged as an obstacle in the world’s biggest automobile market as BMW and Mercedes-Benz gain traction with a generation of rich young buyers.

Audi’s share of China’s luxury-car sales has tumbled by 25% in less than two years as state agencies and executives tighten budgets and younger buyers seek alternatives to sedans traditionally used by the government. The automaker supplied an estimated 70% of cars used by the government and state-held enterprises during the 1980s. Read more »
