Hawtai ‘Luxury Series’ debuts at the Beijing Auto Show

It has been a bit silent around Hawtai (aka Huatai) Automobile. Not anymore. At the Beijing Auto Show the brand presented its first ‘Luxury Series’, luxurious versions of the existing B11 sedan and Baolige SUV. These are not a facelifts of some sort but additional models, the standard B11 and Baolige will continue. The B11 and Baolige ‘luxury’ will hit the Chinese car market next year.

An intersting advertisement from Huatai for its B11 sedan. It hang in on every chair in an airplane, in this case the Shanghai-Beijing Express from China Eastern Airlines. Passengers who don’t look for birds and don’t read a book are forced to look at the Huatai for two hours. Smart advertising. Behind the B11 some famous Beijing landmarks, including the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium and the new CCTV building.

The Huatai (aka Hawtai) B11 costs between 119.700 yuan and 143.700 yuan. The Chinese press likes to call the B11 the ‘China Bentley’ and they got a point. Car loox more upmarket than competition. The B11 is equipped with an Intel TIVI infotainment system that features a permanent 3G connection.

The Huatai (Hawtai is the ‘English’ name) B11 debuted at the Beijing Auto Show in april. It was scheduled to debut in August but didn’t make it. But is look like it will finally happen now, new date is December 28. Price likely to start around 160.000 rmb.
The B11 comes with two engines: a SAIC-sourced 1.8 turbo with 160hp and 215nm, and a Huatai 2.0 turbo diesel for export with 150hp and 310nm. Size: 4943×1852×1511, wheelbase is 2764, weight is 1625kg.
Huatai also has a new English slogan which they introduced at the Guangzhou Auto Show: “Grand Hawtai in Great China”. Catchy.

Celebrations in the Huatai factory because the B11 is now rolling of the line. Biggest news we hadn’t heard yet: it comes with a Linux-powered media center for phone, GPS, DVD, digital tv, and 24/7 3G internet connectivity. Engine: 1.8 turbo from SAIC with 118kw and 215nm. Price will start around 100.000 yuan.

The Huatai B11 has a front so impressive it is actually still visible next to the girl, look at them shine! Hutai = Hawtai in English bit I rather use Huatai, it sounds better. Production of the new Huatai B11 will start soon. It is Huatai’s new Flagship and certainly loox impressive. Size: 4943×1856×1516, wheelbase: 2770. Weight: 1486. Engine: SAIC’s 1.8 turbo (18K4G) that also drives to Roewe 550 and 750.
In the 750 it delivers 118kw@5500rpm and 215nm@2500-4500. Other engines are Huatai’s own 2.0 diesel and a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4 petrol (4G69).
