A very bad-ass BMW X5 4.8is in matte-black, seen here parked on a street not far from the CarNewsChina.com office tower complex. The X5 is a very popular car in China and extremely lucrative for BMW because the Chinese market only wants it with the biggest V8 engines, a 6 is far too mundane and a diesel is for farmers.

German auto giant BMW Group will recall 3,406 Mini Cooper vehicles imported into China since February 1 due to defective electric water pumps, as they may present a fire hazard.
BMW sales in China up 37% in 2011

Riding the tide of booming luxury car demand in China, BMW reported sales of more than 232,000 vehicles on the mainland last year, a surge of 37.6 percent over 2010.
The record tally, including 217,068 BMWs and 15,518 MINI cars, consolidated China’s position as the carmaker’s third-largest market for a second year after the US and Germany.
China-made BMW 3 will debut at the Beijing Auto Show

Extended or not, that is the question. The new BMW 3-series will debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Earlier on there were rumors about the possibility of an extended 3L to compete with the China-made Audi A4L. Later on these rumors were denied, but Chinese media now reports there might be an extended 3 after all, to be built alongside the standard car. Read more »
Spy Shots: Mini Roadster testing in China

The very first spy shots of the Mini Roadster testing on Chinese roads. The Roadster will be listed on the China car market in March, debut is expected at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Engines for the Chinese market: 1.6 and 1.6 turbo.
New BMW 1-Series 3-door leaked in China

The Chinese patent bureau has leaked again. This time it is the new BMW 1-series 3-door which will likely debut at the Geneva Auto Show next year. Lines seem in line with the 5-door, only difference is the somewhat ‘thicker’ bodywork above the rear wheel.
The 1-series is imported in China, there are no final plans for local production yet. See below for more pics straight from the bureau:
BMW X55 is a very extended BMW X5 from China

This must be the longest BMW X5 in the world, seen somewhere in China’s Zhejiang province. The SUV is extended by at least 5 meters to make a good X5 limousine. The owner even thought about the name, he found just ‘X5′ too small so he called it X55. Much better indeed.

The BMW 1-series has been officially listed on the China car market. Price starts at 278.000 yuan and ends at 306.000 yuan. As usual there was a listing-ceremony with a show that begs the question which target-group BMW is exactly aiming for. Hmm…

A very special edition again. The BMW 760Li ‘V12 25 Anniversary Edition’ debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Only 50 cars will be made to mark the quarter century of the 12-cylinder engine in the company’s 7 Series, all 50 will go to China.

The new BMW 1-series will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show at the end of this month. The new 1 will be imported just like the outgoing car, distribution goes via the Brilliance-BMW dealer network. Price will start around 280.000 yuan.
