The BMW 1-series has been officially listed on the China car market. Price starts at 278.000 yuan and ends at 306.000 yuan. As usual there was a listing-ceremony with a show that begs the question which target-group BMW is exactly aiming for. Hmm…

A very special edition again. The BMW 760Li ‘V12 25 Anniversary Edition’ debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Only 50 cars will be made to mark the quarter century of the 12-cylinder engine in the company’s 7 Series, all 50 will go to China.

The new BMW 1-series will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show at the end of this month. The new 1 will be imported just like the outgoing car, distribution goes via the Brilliance-BMW dealer network. Price will start around 280.000 yuan.
BMW 9-month sales in China up 45%

The world’s largest premium carmaker BMW Group sold more than 177,000 vehicles on the Chinese mainland in the first three quarters this year to surpass its 2010 full-year tally.
The German manufacturer said in a recent statement that it delivered 165,669 BMW and 11,853 MINI cars in the first nine months, robust year-on-year growth rates of 45 percent and 60 percent.

The BMW 1M Coupe has been officially listed and priced on the China car market, it debuted a few days back at the Chengdu Auto Show. The 1M costs 598.000 yuan, that is 93.590 US dollar. High price due to high import taxes and BMW trying to earn a little extra. The 1M is powered by a twin turbo six-cylinder with 340hp and 450nm. Via: Sohu.com.
BMW to develop electric car for China

BMW is to develop a new brand of electric cars exclusive to China, giving into pressure from the Chinese authorities. “It will be a purely Chinese brand. It will have no connection with the BMW brand,” board member Friedrich Eichiner told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Otherwise there would be a risk of brand dilution.

A very bright gold-wrapped BMW 7 parked in Beijing. With all those supercars around these days it is hard to get any attention with just a standard Seven. The car reminds of a BMW X5 wrapped in silver and an Infinity G37 wrapped in gold.

Mini is doing very good business in China. The standard car is extremely popular with womenfolk, the Clubman is doing ok and the new Countryman is going like hell in SUV-crazy China. All Mini’s are imported. Two more Mini’s are coming: the Mini Coupe and Mini Roadster. A couple of test vehicles was spotted in a suburb of Beijing.
Baidu, BMW link up in China

Baidu Inc, China’s biggest search engine, will partner with BMW to provide search services in the German automobile maker’s vehicles, part of its drive to push search services onto more platforms.
The two companies agreed to develop and operate search products based on vehicles’ information systems, Baidu said in a statement on Monday. This means Baidu’s search services will go beyond personal computers, mobile phones and televisions and expand to automobiles.
BMW China sales up 61%

BMW sold a total of 122,000 vehicles in China in the first half of the year, an increase of 61 per cent on the same period last year. Demand for the carmaker’s vehicles is growing three times faster than the overall Chinese car market.
