The show was not as green as the Beijing show in April, it seems Chinese carmakers realize they can’t sell EV’s because customers have no place to charge them. Still, good old Chevrolet made a Sail EV concept, based on the Sail hatch with some extra spoilers. Full electric, max power is 65kw, max torque is 220nm, top speed is 130km, range is 150km. Shanghai-GM came up with a new slogan: “Drive to Green”. Catchy.

Guangzhou Auto Show Preview: Chevrolet Spark

Published on December 19, 2010 by Tycho de Feyter

Shanghai-GM brings the new Chevrolet Spark to the Guangzhou Auto Show and it loox much less exiting than the concept. That is a normal thing to happen indeed but in this case the difference is hugely, and hugely dissapointing. The Spark does’t even seem a very modern car and stands on extremely small tires. Good for fuel consumption I guess but not too good for handling, especially in windy times. The Spark gets a 4-cilinder 1.0 with 50kw and 90nm, mated to a 4-speed auto or 5-speed manual. Price will start around 60.000 yuan.
