Spy Shot(s): Chery Cowin 5 Naked

Four small shots of the new Chery Cowin 5, the successor of the Chery Eastar/Oriental Sun. Some say those names won’t come back anymore, others say they will but only for export. We will see, for know only Chery knows.., or maybe the don’t know yet either.
Chery uses the Cowin-brandname for its cheapest cars, the range is expanding rapidly. The Cowin 5 gets a 1.8 litre engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed auto. Price will start around 80.000 yuan. The Cowin 5 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next month.

We have already seen the front of the new Chery Cowin E5 and today we have the first pic of the back. The Cowin E5 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next month, it will be listed in December. Chery uses the ‘Cowin’-name for its cheapest cars.

Chery will launch the Cowin E5 at the Shanghai Auto Show next month. Some more details of the car have surfaced: size: 4580x1760x1483, wheelbase is 2600, curb weight is 1336kg. Engine: 1.8 with 132hp and 170nm. Top speed: 185km/h. Transmission: CVT. More pics and info will no doubt follow soon…

The new Chery Cowin sedan will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Chery uses the ‘Cowin’-name for its cheapest cars. The Cowin E5 gets a 1.8 litre engine and stands on the same platform as the Riich G3.

The Chery Cowin E6 will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in Shanghai. Cowin is s sub brand selling cheaper Chery’s. The E6 is so far the biggest Cowin. Engines: 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0. Later a 1.3 and a 1.5 will be added. Size: 4866×1840×1600, wheelbase is 2768. Curb weight: 1480 kg.

New spy shots from the upcoming, is has been upcoming for years, Chery Cowin 5. Earlier we heard that the Cowin 5 would share its platform with the Chery Oriental Sun aka Chery Eastar. Now we hear the Oriental Sun/Eastar names might be dumped completely so the Cowin 5 would be Chery’s only big sedan. Makes some sense but with Chery one never knows.

Chery’s Cowin-series are meant to be cheap transport for the masses. The new Cowin E6 however almost loox as a luxury sedan. The car, codenamed B16, will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

Chery is working on a new brand, called Cowin. The Cowin 1 is based on the old QQ6, the Cowin 3 is based on the Chery A5. It loox like Cowin is being positioned between the cheap Chery-brand and the more expensive Riich-brand.
The Cowin 5 on these pictures will be the most expensive Cowin. Chery is furthermore planning a Cowin 4 and a Cowin E6. The old ‘Chery Cowin’, based on the Seat Toledo, lives on as the Cowin 2.

‘Cowin‘ is a Chery brand positioned between cheap Chery itself and the more expensive Riich brand. The Cowin 6 will be the most expensive Cowin with 2.0. 1.8, 1.8 turbo and 1.6 supercharged engines. We have seen the Cowin 6 testing around before but today we have the first pics of the interior. It seems there is still some work to do…
