Dongfeng launched the HUV Concept on the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. It is the second vehicle with such a name and of such a kind. The first HUV debuted in 2012 and in 2013 we heard it would see production, but that never happened. The new HUV looks pretty much production ready, and it has been moved under the Fengshen brand, which also indicates Dongfeng has plans to bring it to the market.

The massive Dongfeng HUV debuted today at the Beijing Auto Show. A pleasant surprise, we knew that Dongfeng was working on it but we didn’t expect to see it here yet. The HUV is design-wise clearly inspired by the sadly long-gone Hummer H2/H3 and that we did expects because Dongfeng has some very notable Hummer-experience.

Last month I posted about how China got the Hummer. Dongfeng pretended to make a civilian version for political reasons but didn’t really do it. See the story here. New drawings however show Dongfeng is thinking about a civilian version anyway. Based on the EQ2050 but with a very different style, more like the Hummer H2 than the Humvee.
