The Fiat C-Medium is a new mid-size sedan for the Chinese car market that will be built on Fiat’s C-EVO platform that also underpins the Dodge Dart and Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Above rendering seems based on a Dodge Dart picture but indeed this is what the C-Medium will likely look like. The Fiat C-Medium will be made in China by the Guangzhou Fiat joint venture and will debut in the third quarter of this year.

Size of the C-Medium: 4650/1790/1500mm, with a wheelbase of 2703mm (wheelbase 10 cm longer than Giulietta). Power will come from Fiat’s 1.4 ‘Fire T-jet’ turbocharged engine with two different tunes: 88kw and 210nm and 110kw and 230nm, mated to a 6-speed ‘DDCT-C635′ dual clutch transmission. The engine will be made in China as well.

First spy shot of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta testing on Chinese roads. The Giulietta will be imported, the China-bound car is expected at the Beijing Auto Show in April. It had a long time coming, Alfa Romeo applied for a Chinese patent on the Giulietta back in November 2010, the Giulietta then debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November.

There is yet another China-connection; the C-EVO platform that underpins the Giulietta will also be used to underpin the upcoming Fiat C-Medium which will be made in China by the Guangzhou Fiat joint venture. Whether the Giulietta will be made in China at a later time is yet unsure.

Chart shows we can expect another four cars before 2016. Among those a medium-sized sedan and a SUV. The 500 will likely remain imported.

Fiat does not make any cars in China at this moment. It will soon when the new joint venture with Guangzhou Auto starts making Linea’s for the Chinese market. Production starts in the second half of 2011. Fiat currently imports the Bravo, Grand Bravo and Linea and it will add the 500 before the end of this year.

It will be priced around 200.000 yuan to compete with other imported fashionthingies like the Mini and Volkswagen New Beetle. That one is still selling well in China, the only place in the world where it does. It would make a lot of sense to make the 500 in China but after the Linea starts rolling off the line the Bravo’s will likely go first. The Fiat 500 hit la European markets in 2007.
