New spy shots showing the facelifted BYD G6 sedan, it will be launched on the China car market later this year. The facelift includes a completely new front with a fat chromed grille and a very sporty bumper with a low hanging black lip. Five-spoke alloys look very speedy too, BYD clearly trying to find a younger audience for the G6.

BYD has launched the most advanced version of its G6 sedan, the BYD G6 TID. ‘TID’ stands for Turbocharged, direct Injection, Dual clutch. The engine is a 1.5 turbo with direct injection, good for 113kw and 240nm. The DCT is six-speed. BYD is very proud of the new package because it was independently developed and BYD therefore has the full intellectual property rights.

The BYD G6, BYD’s new flagship sedan, will be listed on the China car market on September 26. The G6 is the successor of the E6, a similar big sedan for little money. The G6 however is positioned a bit higher and comes with more goodies. Read more »

The BYD G6 will be listed on the Chinese car market in September. The G6 is the much more advanced successor of the BYD F6. Best thing for BYD: the G6 doesn’t look like a 1:1 copy of another car, like the rest of BYD’s range.

The soon to be listed BYD G6 sedan is the first BYD to get the new 4-cylinder 1.5 liter direct injection turbocharged engine under the hood. It has a healthy 113kw and 240nm. Other engines are the 1.8 with 90kw and 160nm and the 2.0 with 103kw and 186nm.

BYD developed a new 1.5 turbocharged engine with 154hp and 240nm. The engine will be called ’1.5 Ti’ and debut at the Shanghai auto Show in the BYD G6. The new engine will be mated to an also new ‘DCT’ dual clutch transmission.

The first BYD that isn’t a blatant copy of another brand’s car. The BYD G6 debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show, it is the successor of the F6. Engines: 2.0 and 2.4, 5-speed manual or auto. Hybrid? Nope. EV? Nope. Hybrids and EV’s don’t sell, BYD knows that now. Size: 4860×1825×1462, wheelbase is 2745. Price will start around 120.000 yuan, to be listed in the first half of 2011.

BYD is in trouble lately and can surely use a car that actually sells. The G6 loox all right so it might help a bit, but guess what?, no hybrid or electric version and no plans for it either.
