When I saw this pics I almost hit me roof. This indeed is the Chery M14 again!!! One of two sporty Chery cars that have been under development for ages but never made it to the China car market yet, the other one is the Chery Riich Z5 (fka Chery A6CC). The M14 is a CC that debuted back in 2005, yez 2005, on the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Chery M14 debuted as a concept on the 2005 Shanghai Auto Show. Chery decided to built it but never managed to fix the problems with the hard-top convertible technology. These new pictures prove Chery still ain’t there…

Chery seems to go for two sportmachines: the M14 hardtop convertible and this A6CC coupe. Last week we saw some pictures of the M14 testing and today two sexy red A6CC’s on a factory parkinglot. Some think that the M14 will be renamed A6CC but then why is the real A6CC still around. Chery might change both cars in one: an A6CC coupe and and A6CC convertible. In that case one would expect at least some similarities in design, like around the nose, but there are none. The A6CC is expected to debut, as is the M14, at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of April.

Chery brought the M14 as a prototype to the Shanghai Auto Show in 2005. Today, in 2010, it is still not on the market. But it ain’t death eiter, it’s been spotted testing several times over the years and now again. The M14 was to be China’s first hardtop convertible but they lost that title to the BYD S8. Second than might be, the car however doesn’t look much ready for Beijing Auto in April.
Update: some sources say the M14 will be renamed A6CC, the A6CC being another Chery conceptcar but without a folding roof. Not sure…
