This is the all new 2016 Toyota Prius, showing it all inside and out. The 2016 Toyota Prius will officially launch in Las Vegas at 2400 tonight, but China got it first, as usual. The new Prius will have its public debut on the Frankfurt Auto Show that starts on September 17, and its China debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in early December. The 2016 Prius will also be manufactured in China starting in late 2016.

Toyota has applied for patent on the Prius C for the Chinese car market. The current Toyota Prius is made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. Since the Prius C is a cheaper car it seems very likely it will be made in China too. Whether is will be at FAW-Toyota or Guangzhou-Toyota is not sure at this moment.

Toyota has applied for patent on the new Toyota Prius G’s for the Chinese car market. The G’s is a
strangely urban-cool named sporty Prius that is so far only destined for the Japanese market. China will get it too, likely as another try to get the young into hybrids.

These are the very first pictures of the China-made 3th-gen Toyota Prius, made by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. The Prius will be listed on the China car market in February. The 2nd-gen Prius was also made in China but it was far too expensive, sales were so low that Toyota canceled production. Toyota will price the Prius lower this time to get sales up. High hopes indeed…

The Toyota Prius is back in China. It is made by the FAW-Toyota joint venture and will be listed on the Chinese car market in February next year. The last-gen Prius was also made in China by FAW-Toyota but sales were so low that Toyota pulled the plug. They now, want to try again. Most parts, including the hybrid drive-train, will be imported straight from Japan and put together in the factory in Changchun where above pic was shot. Via: Autohome.

Toyota Motor Corp announced over the weekend that it will produce hybrid vehicles and key components in China in 2015 to cash in on the fledgling yet promising market for green cars.
“We’ve decided to develop vehicles equipped with hybrid powertrains that are made in China and will try to start production and sales at our Chinese joint ventures in 2015,” said Akio Toyoda, Toyota’s president.

The previous generation Toyota Prius was made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. Sales however were very slow so Toyota decided not to make the new Prius in China. The Japanese however, have changed their mind.

A new spy shot of a Prius testing in China. But good news it ain’t, Toyota has decided to postpone the introduction of the new Prius Hybrid in China yet again. Some media even say ‘postponed indefinitely’. The previous Prius was made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. Because of very low sales Toyota decided to stop local production and import the new Prius but that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. Read more »
