This is the new Roewe 550L for China. It will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and launch on the Chinese car market in early 2017. It is a fine looking car with a wide grille flanked by LED lights and shiny bits in the bumper. Wheels however seem a tad too small.

The facelifted Roewe 550 debuted on the Shanghai Auto Show in near-total darkness. What is, Roewe trying to hide? The facelift has done well to the old 550, making sure it can continue at least another two years. Biggest changes are up front with a new grille, headlights and bumper.

This must have been a very painful birth. We saw the very first spy shots of the facelifted Roewe 550 in… November 2011. Since then we have seen various prototypes testing around, including a completely-ready example in the Shanghai subway.
But no matter how many test cars we saw, the facelifted Roewe 550 never made it to the Chinese car market yet. The latest we saw were the patent drawings which appeared in January of this very year. Chinese media now report the facelifted Roewe 550 will finally debut on the Shanghai Auto Show that starts next week. Hurray.

Roewe has applied for patent for the facelifted Roewe 550. The new design however was no secret, we have seen the facelifted Roewe 550 all-naked several times, Roewe has been working on this relatively small facelift for more than a year now, begging the question; where is the car?

Surprising pics of the new Roewe 550, parked in some kinda booth in what appears to be the Shanghai subway. Somebody must have made a mistake at Roewe because the facelifted 550 hasn’t officially debuted yet. The new 550 is expected to be launched on the China car market in September but it so arrived a bit too early. We don’t mind…

New spy shots show a Roewe 550 with a DCT, it will be mated to the 1.8 turbo that poops out 160hp and 215nm. Chinese media say the 550 DCT will be available before the end of this year. The same media are however a bit confused about which 550 will get the DCT first.
