A great addition to my ever-growing Chinese tin toy collection. I found this beauty today at a market in Shanghai. It was made in the early 1980’s by the Shanghai Toy Factory. This particular toy survived all those years very well. It is a sport station wagon, originally it had a ski-pack on the roof-rack, which is sadly missing here. Otherwise it is perfectly fine, even the friction-power-train still worx perfect!

An incredible new arrival in my ever expanding Chinese tin toy collection. “I will once start a museum”, I always tell the wife. Sure I will not!, these beauties are mine alone… This is the ME801 Lunar Explorer, a completely imagined moon exploration vehicle with dangerous bright orange grappling arms.

Another great Chinese tin toy arrived in my collection. This beauty is the ‘MF756 Pick-up Truck’. It was made in China in the late 1960’s by the Shanghai Toy Factory. I found it on eBay in the Netherlands and it is now safely back home.

The Chinese tin toy industry started in the early 1970’s and continued until the early 1990’s. I am a fanatic collector and will show some of my treasures on this website. Today Part 1.
When China started making tin toys they mostly copied Japanese tin toys, just like the Japanese tin toy industry started with copying British and German tin toys. Later on however Chinese factories designed their very own toys, mostly based on early Chinese cars, trucks and all kind of weaponry. In this first part seven Chinese tin toy cars. To start the first pic again:

Except for editing this website I am also a fanatic collector of Chinese tin toys, most made in the 1960’s and 1970’s. A few weeks ago I bought this very beautiful ‘Liberation Truck’, or Jiefang Kache (解放卡车), Jiefang is a brandname under First Auto Works.
