No, this is not a Porsche Macan. This indeed is the Zotye SR9, a Chinese clone of the Macan. It was delayed by a coupe of times but now it has finally been launched on the market. Price of the SR9, formerly known as the SR8, starts at 109.800 and ends at 162.800 yuan ($16.115 – 23.900). The Macan starts at 558.000 yuan ($83.000). So you can have 5.5 SR9’s for one Macan. I have since heard that the first SR9’s have arrived at the single Zotye dealer in Beijing, next Monday I will go to have a look.

Starting with the big news; like we expected the Zotye SR8 Porsche Macan clone will be called the Zotye SR9 when it hits the Chinese car market on October 12. This kind of late name changes are common in China and business as usual at Zotye.

Zotye has released the first official photos of the infamous Zotye SR8 Porsche Macan clone from China, showing a single car in blue with a red dashboard and beige seats. We have seen that car before. Zotye however has not released the name of the good vehicle. Earlier on we heard it might be called SR9 instead of SR8.

We have a boatload of new photos of the infamous Zotye SR8 Porsche Macan clone from China, showing a whole flock of the things on a factory parking lot, and they come in every color. The Zotye SR8 will debut on the Chengdu Auto Show in early September and launch on the Chinese car market soon thereafter.
But there is bigger news: we hear that Zotye has decided to rename the SR8 to… SR9. No official confirmation yet but Zotye does this kind of fuzzy all the time, so we wouldn’t be surprised.

The already infamous Zotye SR8 Porsche Macan clone will be launched on the Chinese car market shortly. Earlier on we heard it was going to be launched on May 20, but that day passed and went without the SR8. However, Zotye is clearly close to a launch. New photos from inside the factory reveal two identical pink examples fitted with a pink interior and black wheels.

The Zotye SR8 Porsche Macan clone from China did not as expected debut on the Beijing Auto Show. We have heard the organizers of the show refused to have the SR8, fearing bad publicity. For the same reason, or so our sources say, the entire Landwind brand was kept out of the show.
A slight setback for Zotye, perhaps, but the SR8 is coming nevertheless. It will debut on a media event on May 20 and launch on the Chinese car market in June. Price will start at 88.800 yuan and end at 99.900 yuan. The fuzzy numbers are no coincidence, both 8 and 9 are considered lucky in Chinese culture.
