The old Volkswagen Caddy was made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The Caddy was canceled a few years ago because nobody bought it. Volkswagen however seems to consider to bring the Caddy back.

One brand new facelifted Caddy was spied testing on Chinese roads. This test car is imported from Germany. When local production starts is still not sure. The old Caddy wasn’t sold as a ‘van’ in China but as a small multifunctional MPV. Car on pics has blacked out rear windows which, considering ist German roots, means it is a van.

  1. Following the inimitable Type II minibus, VW just never got back in the global minivan game, in any meaningful way. Meanwhile the competition goes on laughing all the way to the bank. What were you thinking VW?

  2. We live in Xiamen, China and bought a VW Caddie about 6 years ago.

We love it! Of course the looks are not the greatest and the back seat windows don’t open but other than that it is fun to drive, roomy for us big Americans and a very sturdy car. We are always carrying people or stuff and there seems to be just the right amount of room without needing a gas-hog. It is very good on gas!

I wish they would start selling them in China again. We’ve had a lot of friends say they like it and wanted to buy one.
